    Bottling concern

Like everyone else said...batches smaller than 5 gallons are more trouble than they are worth. You can always use 22oz. bottles...only takes 24!! I usually use the 22oz or the 16oz Grolsch bottles.

    Raspberry Wheat

The puree was a commercial brand I purchased at the brew store, I believe it even said pasturized on the can.

    Raspberry Wheat

It came out pretty good. I did not add any Raspberry extract to the bottles because it already had a pretty good Raspberry aroma and flavor. SWMBO loves it!!!! :D

    Raspberry Wheat

Just kinda "winged" it on the recipe. Used BeerSmith software to help me. - 6lbs Wheat Liquid Extract - .75oz Hallertauer Hersbrucker Pellet Hops (60 min boil) - 3lbs Raspberry Puree added to wort last 1 min of boil - Bavarian Wheat Yeast(Wyeast #3056) Made a starter two days before. I...

    Raspberry Wheat

Here is a picture of what fruit beer fermentation is like....without a blowoff tube I would be in REAL trouble!!! Raspberry Wheat

    Gasp! Another newbie bottling question...

I new to this as well but so far I have bottled and drank 3 batches with NO problems. I use Star-San as my sanitizer....don't like having to rinse everything. Star-San works great...just have to realize that the stuff foams and not worry about it. The foam doesn't hurt the taste of the beer...

DME has to be the stickiest sh*t I've ever seen

The wife never complains about my brewing....if I dumped a bunch of dirty pots from brewing and expected her to clean them she would get pissed! Wouldn't really blame her. Anyway, she makes wine...I make the beer. All Good!! :D

DME has to be the stickiest sh*t I've ever seen

No way!! If the SWMBO cleaned up after I brewed....all my equipment would be in the trash!!! LOL

    Another Fruit Question

I'm going to make a Raspberry Wheat and I picked up supplies at my local homebrew store. He suggested adding the 3lbs of Raspberry puree at the end of the boil. I have read many threads on this subject and it seems that everyone is adding the puree to the secondary. Do you think I should put...

    Tempature Question

That is alittle too warm. You can put the carboy/bucket in a cool place and put wet t-shirts on it and direct a fan to create cooling. You can build a chiller like this one Chiller I built a chiller like the one in the link above and I am able to keep my fermentation temps below 70F in...

    Explain starter yeast

I was taught to use 1/2 to 1 cup of Light DME and a "pinch" of yeast nutrient mix for all my starters.

    Working On Clarity

I have used Whirfloc tablets and they seem to work pretty good. I have only brewed 3 times but I have used Whirfloc twice and I (as well as my experienced homebrew friends) were pretty impressed with how clear the beer was, especially since I didn't do a secondary fermentation or filter it in...

    Explain starter yeast

I have only brewed 3 batches of beer. I did my first batch with dry yeast...took about 36 hours for fermentation to begin. My last two batches (hefe & lite ale) I used a starter...WOW what a difference it makes. Both times fermentation started with 5 hours of pitching. I like the idea of my...

New guy seeking advice on equipment, extracts.

I'm a newbie as well. I have completed 3 brews and it is a blast! My recommendation is do not worry about secondary fermentation for now....get the process down and use single fermentation. The beer will be very good with only a single fermentation and you won't have to worry about...

    Fermentation Chiller

You can glue two 1" sheets together to get the 2" thickness you need. Just make sure you have could service coverage and you let the glue set for 24hrs. Liquid Nails makes an adhesive just for foam board. You should be able to find it at your local hardware store or home improvement...

    Starter Questions

If you use an airlock with a starter flask do you need another hole in stopper to provide O2???
