    Living History of Brewing

I follow this guy's YouTube channel for his historical culinary videos. He focuses on the late 18th / early 19th century, or the Regency Era. Much to my surprise he has produced a video on brewing! All you history buffs out there... ENJOY! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLxNWWeEAlw

    Studying for the BJCP Exam

I just got my Tasting Exam grades back last week! I passed with a "Certified" rank on the first attempt! F0983 Having a few judging points (5 meager points) helped me cross the threshold to "certified". You don't have to be a ranked BJCP judge to help out. Get out there and support your local...

    Low bucks motorized grain mill

Could you wire up a large 12 volt PC fan to turn on and blow across the motor housing to evacuate the heat more rapidly? If this doesn't work, I've got a Bruno power chair lift that has some massive DC motors on it. I may pull one of those to power my mill.

    Low bucks motorized grain mill

So, I recently picked up another hobby. HAM Radio. I've got a 2 meter mobile unit that I'm using as a make-shift base station and I picked up a power supply for it. So, yesterday evening I had the idea to connect the Automotive Seat motor to see how it performed. HOLY CRAP! That...

Properly shielded burners, which those look to be, will keep the heat channeling up and out. I wanted to test this once and the carburetor plate portion of the big banjo burners doesn't even get hot to the touch. With no shielding they do. That bottle should be just fine. After all, they...

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle (illustrated)

That's what I did when calibrating my sight glass. I weighed out a gallon of water and marked it on the gallon jug with a sharpie. Then, as long as you fill to the same spot on the line each time, you have a repeatable gallon.

    Low bucks motorized grain mill

Thanks for the update! Can you post the photos/video? WOAH! I worked at my LHBS, Texas Brewing Inc., for a while and we NEVER charged for milling of grain! That's just nuts and at $0.50/pound, its dang-near highway robbery! At that charge, a $300, 3-roller monster mill would be paid for...

    Walkin Cooler TX Build

10°-20° off vertical would probably be plenty of slope to rest a flap against. 45° may be too far to horizontal and your fans may not be able to push the flap up sufficiently.

    Walkin Cooler TX Build

Perhaps using a dryer vent exhaust would work? There are a few types... these louvered types and a baffle type (with a swinging flap). Swinging flap may work best though. Either way, your fans should have no problem opening the louver/flap... you'll need one each for supply and...

    Show us your panel

So, if you have a failure between your panel and the wall, the control panel will assume everything is ok, relying on the non-GFCI breakers in your house's panel to trip? Am I reading that correct? That seems a bit dangerous as regular breakers are NOT designed to protect human life, but save...

    Low bucks motorized grain mill

So, I picked up a ~280W single rail power supply yesterday from my IT guy in the office. Whey you say your 850W is overkill, how much overkill do you have? You think my 280W ps will work? If not, I can just pivot my plan with that ps and use it as a benchtop power supply for other projects.

Ok @BeardedBrews @BeardedIdiot. I know you one of you had a mix-up on your Love Joy's. What sizes did you end up using? What are you using for your power supply?

    Multiple Fermentations...at once

Thanks for the mention... I need to break out the multi controller again and utilize it more. I don't know that I would recommend lagering while fermenting Ale as I did in my test, but it did "work". In hind-sight I think that was just too much Delta. although, the idea of insulating the warm...

Upright Keezer, 8 taps, 11 kegs

Ok... I know I have coils in the side walls at least. The walls are warm to touch while operating. So, If I feel around the back side and don't feel heat, it's likely safe to drill through right above the hump?
