Brew-blitz ... where to go in BC, Washington, Oregon, N. Idaho, and Montana?

You guys rock! (Any local homebrewers want to join us for a day in any of these places? Or share some homebrew with thirsty travelers?)

Brew-blitz ... where to go in BC, Washington, Oregon, N. Idaho, and Montana?

Oh! Thanks for the heads up on the "beer mapping project." All these suggestions... we're going to need more than 4 days...

Brew-blitz ... where to go in BC, Washington, Oregon, N. Idaho, and Montana?

Like all bad - I mean great - ideas, this one started over beers. About 8 of us are planning to pile into my short bus and do a 4 day blitz of as many breweries as possible. We're leaving from central Alberta, heading through BC, down through Seattle to Portland, then back through Montana...

    How would you know?

For the guy who is about to brew his first batch ever, there's an even easier way to do things. Mash, boil, cool, add yeast. Your hands will be full getting a handle on the main, important bits. You'll get a decent beer. Don't sweat the math and gravity till next time (at earliest!)

getting rid of DMS with a CO2 flush?

I think this was moderately successful. I forced the CO2 onto the "out" post of a corny, I left the keg lid on, and bled out pressure through the relief valve. Did this for maybe 5 mins ... would have done more but was worried my C02 tank was nearing empty. DMS taste was reduced to a...

Urgent... Do gals actually like getting lingerie for Christmas?

Skipped the sexies and went with some lambic beer, foot rub, and a few other stocking stuffers. Probably for the better! Thanks folks. ...oh and GOT a refractometer! Can't wait.

Urgent... Do gals actually like getting lingerie for Christmas?

Hmmm... You know, the advice is kinda secondary to the fact that this thread is now officially FUN. I'm not sure I could get away with giving in to the requests for pictures. Maybe could find one of her with a mash paddle? Starting a siphon?

Urgent... Do gals actually like getting lingerie for Christmas?

Don't know who else to ask, so I guess you guys are as good as anyone... Honest question... is lingerie a real gift? I am totally stuck for good xmas ideas ... I couldn't find a few things that would have been PERFECT. Aaaaand of course I'm a guy so now it's the last minute...

getting rid of DMS with a CO2 flush?

Experiencing HUGE cooked corn flavour in a light cream ale. The recipe had a good amount of Pilsner malt, and also a good amount of flaked corn. Also, my thermometer broke... but I didn't realize that until I had WAY over heated the mash through multiple decoction. (So... there is a...

Calculation question (relating corn sugar to gravity)

Experiment idea... No boil AG beer???

Not a nay-sayer... DO this experiment and let us know! Just came across something to consider or put in your report for interest. From Fix's "principles of brewing science" "[calcium ions] continue to interact with malt phosphate during wort boiling ... the primary reason that wort pH...

Best and/or Worst Brewing Gadgets You've Ever Purchased

Auto siphon wins for most hated AND most loved item on this thread! I've tried two different ones and hated them (didn't seem to work well, stirred up the yeast trying to get them to go, harder to sanitize...) One of my best purchases has been an infrared temperature sensor gun... does anyone...

    GD electronics and mash temps

I always double check my temps between two thermometers... until the day BOTH of them weren't working (battery dead in one, spilled hot water on the other)... so I reached for an unproven electronic one. My mash temp was a little low so I added some hot water. No change. Scooped out some of...

    Too much roasted barley!

Had a similar experience with the LHBS giving me more of the dark stuff than I wanted. Ended up with 2 lbs of chocolate malt in a recipe. Story here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f36/pinhead-wheat-stout-puffed-wit-2-batch-stovetop-adventure-day-102360/ It was actually really good after aging...

Calculation question (relating corn sugar to gravity)

I am considering adding some corn sugar to a recipe, and was trying to figure out in my head how much I would need. In my mind, corn sugar is basically 100% soluble sugars. SG as I understand is a density relative to water ... so 1.000 is water, which would weigh 1Kg/Litre. From that, I...
