    Gravity issues weighing me down

I got some old malt extract from a friend and brewed a hazelnut brown two weeks ago. After pitching the yeast it fermented slowly for a few days and then quit. Gravity now reads 1.120 (don't have an OG b/ca my hydrom. was broken, but the recipe says the target OG is 1.052). Is there any way to...

    Keg as a 2ndary

Apologies if this has been posted before. On the computer for a very limited time before the baby starts to holler. Got a batch that is done in the primary. Want to put it in a 2ndary and dry hop. Is there any benefit to using a carboy as a 2ndary vs. just putting it straight into a corny...

Keg system for $100, too good to be true?

Looking into getting a basic corny keg setup and ran across this holiday promotional offering. Is there something I'm missing or is it a pretty sweet deal. http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=415 The fine print: Dispenses a Five Gallon, Cornelius/Firestone style 5 Gallon keg...

Ok to wait to pitch the yeast?

I brewed a porter last night. Any problems if I wait to pitch the yeast about a week? Afraid I won't be able to tend to it when it's done fermenting if I pitch now.

    just add water?

fermented my IPA in a 7 gal. carboy that apparently I had marked a little shy of 5 gallons. I transfered to a 5 gallon 2ndary are saw it was shy by quite a bit. Starting gravity was 1.050 and currently it is 1.012. Can I top it off with water to reach the 5 gallon mark before I pitch the yeast...

    what to do

i brewed a pale ale that is on the high side of alcohol content and left it in the primary. along with other rookie mistakes, i kept it in the basement where it was a little colder than an optimal fermenting temp. (60-63 degrees). it's been in there going on five weeks now and is still bubbling...

    nearing 14 days in primary

my first batch is still in the primary carboy with very little signs of activity in the airlock. maybe one blurb every minute. was hoping to bottle this weekend. should i switch to a 2ndary or will it be ok to bottle? have not tested the gravity. it's and "english bitter."

    no signs of fermentation overnight

didn't have a good feeling about my 1st batch from the get go. a few things went wrong, but maybe most importantly i think i added the yeast when the wort was too warm. i let the wort cool "naturally" in a carboy. it took hours and i finally added the yeast before i went to bed. now this...
