Upright Keezer, 8 taps, 11 kegs

Yep, seals it here. I'd been considering a chest freezer, but since I only currently think I'd ever want/need more than 2 taps, with the rest of the area used for 'bottles and cans' storage - chests are very difficult to maintain for 'piece' inventory. So, a stand up freezer, with the kegs...

Wheeled Platform for Keezer - Plywood or Frame?

I'd pretty much say that putting a piece of 3/4 plywood on the bottom of the freezer would be "okay" - but certainly not what you'd want. At that point, almost the same as putting the wheels (dollys/casters) to the freezer itself. I'd build a nice frame of 2x4, or maybe 2x6 if I wanted more...

    Head Retention?

What I have been doing, and according to everything I've read it shouldn't work (but seems too), is adding between 4oz and 8oz of flaked oats to my steeping grains. Just mixing them in with the rest of the grains in the bag. Everything I've read (here and books) say that it shouldn't work...

    Star San

Yep. I had to turn off our water softener a week ago, and brewed last night. I poured out my still-clear bucket of Starsan solution, and made a new batch. I decided since it had been a little more than a month since I bottled my last batch I should just do it again. When making up my new...

American Wheat Beer Honey Balz Spring Wheat

When I want to impart some honey taste, or hints, I use it to prime with, seems to work out very well in that capacity.

    steeping specialty grains

I don't know if it makes much of a difference at all. I do it both ways, depending on what time I get the whole brewday started. It also depends on how much prep work I have done before getting the pot on the stove too. It is an interesting question, and I'd like to hear a definitive answer...

Possible misinformation about plastic fermentation buckets

I would totally be buying /clear/ or mostly transparent buckets if I could find them near me, or at least as inexpensively as Ale Pails. Mostly because I really would like to see what is going on inside the buckets. That said, I wouldn't trade the buckets I do use for using carboys (either...

    Vinator

I absolutely LOVE my Vinator, with a single quibble. I think the spring is a tad long. It doesn't seat well into the 'cup' in the base when I screw it together. So, it sometimes slips to the side, even after screwed together. Since it's done this a few times, the spring now has a 'bow' to...

i forgot to bottle my homebrew. 6 weeks into it. drink it? or dump it?

Only thing I would have done differently on Saturday while bottling would be to have taken a sample for a gravity reading, and tasted it. I wasn't concerned about the final gravity, because it had been 3 months on the yeast, so didn't. But, in retrospect, should have just for curiosity and for...
