Do bottles have to be dry?

My wife is another unsung hero of homebrew. She delabels and cleans all my bottles! I didn't even have to ask! Bottle reclaiming imo is the most tedious part of the hobby, so God bless my wife and God bless you good lady!

    Hops are bad, apparently?

God is great, beer is good, people are....idiots. Wasn't there a post going around the interwebs about a deadly chemical that causes all these problems and we use it every day so we were all doomed to die? Then at then end of the post you find out that the chemical is water.

    Very Basic Brewing Questions

Well I believe that I have read on here that some one else has carb'd/conditioned in coke bottles before so I guess it could work. I'm confused about not needing it to be fizzy because it's bitter though. I would imagine that proper carbonation would help the flavor of the beer but to each...

    Dry hopping a stout

I thought Stout was just a strong porter. Higher alc porters were called stout porter and eventually the porter designation fell off and they were just called stouts. I read that on the interwebs so it MUST be true...right!?!? ::smile:: Sent by my Android using Home Brew Talk

    So who's brewing this weekend?

My buddies and brewed up ten gallons of AHS Cream Ale. Modified the recipe a bit to account for my FIRST full boil. Woot! Also did my first yeast starters which caused the most vigorous fermentation I have seen even just after 3 or so hours. I had to put in my first blow of tubes as well to...

    AHS Stout Kits

I don't think there will be much difference. I just did the double choc stout from AHS and it was straight forward. I used the white labs liquid yeast that came with the kit. As far as the oatmeal goes, I think you just steep them like the other specialty grains.

    Help determine my FG

One of the smarter people on here may need to confirm or deny this, but if your not sure what you are shooting for then I would wait until it keeps a steady gravity for two or three days. Around here they also speak often of leaving it on the cake for a while longer even after fermentation is...

What got you interested in beer?

I used to drink bud light but mostly drank rum/vodka. Around 25 years of age I met the girl that would become my wife. It was then I decided I liked to be able to remember my nights out with her so I quit drink the hard stuff and switched to beer. I think the beer I tasted that really got me...

    priming sugar in primary fermentor?

When yyou stir it in you aerate the beer as well. Could be a lot, could be not so much. You just expose less to oxygen when you siphon it to a bottling bucket as the siphone tube is usually kept at the bottom of the bottling bucket. So the only beer that gets exposed to air is the top layer...
