    Yeast Essentials Workshop

I attended this event in Austin Texas on October 23, 2013. In case you are interested, here are my key take-aways. 1. Homebrewers and Craft Brewery folks were both in attendance and it was neat to talk to others, though it is not a networking event where you can easily meet everyone else...

    Yeast Essentials Workshop

Have any of you been to one of these Yeast Essentials Workshops by White Labs? http://www.whitelabs.com/education/yeast-essentials-workshop-austin-tx I was thinking of signing up for this, but was wondering if any of you have ever attended one and whether you thought it would be worth...

I just had a couple slices of some "soberdough" beer bread and a honey porter... they complimented each other VERY well.

    BEST Food with BEER??

Heh. I like the way the title of this thread is worded. It just dawned on me that you don't pair beer with food. Instead you pair the food with the beer. As a homebrewer, you have on tap what you have on tap... so you start with what beer you want to drink and then you pair the food with...

Dry hopping a wheat? Am I crazy?

I don't think it sounds crazy! I have a Belgian Wit IPA that is 7 days in the carboy. During the boil I added a total of 3 oz. of hops: Columbus, Cluster, and Centennial, at 60 min, 15 min, and 5 min respectively. I am adding 1 more oz. of Cascade after the fermentation slows, probably at...

    Specific question about secondary

I have been leaving some of my beers (lagers) in the primary for up to 8 weeks. My last batch I took out at 6 weeks. I did cold crash as part of the process, but I did not notice any difference as everything was already laying down on the bottom pretty solid. After you leave it in the primary...

Do your under age kids drink w/you at home?

There is some talk about laws here and I have not read the entire thread, because it is freaky long, but I just checked and in Texas it is not illegal to give your child alcohol. See page 6 below. I imagine that these laws vary by state...

Do your under age kids drink w/you at home?

I want my kids to start drinking at home at about 12. That way they can have a good 4 years of experience before they hit the road. lol

    White IPA ( WIPA )

Are you going to do separate batches and then blend at bottling time? I tried Collaboration #2 again last night. Delicious. http://www.boulevard.com/BoulevardBeers/collaboration-2/

    White IPA ( WIPA )

I tried this last night and it was VERY good. I didn't actually know what I was doing so I almost messed it up. I read on the label that it was a wit beer, but after already drinking a few, I also saw that it was an IPA... so I just cracked it open and poured a small glass. Beautiful aroma...
