Equpment for sale in Brooklyn NY. Sad Day

Hey All, I'm gonna try to sell it together if I can. If not, I'd let the 6.5 carboy and cooler go for $45, ingerdients for about $25 with a full inventory beforehand. I'd sell the keggle for $80 but dont really want to ship it.

Equpment for sale in Brooklyn NY. Sad Day

I just don't have the room to keep this hobby going in my apartment. Really hate to part with this stuff, but it's time to clean out my equipment until I have more space. Here's what I've got. 3 Carboys - One glass 6.5 gal, one glass 5 gal., one better bottle 5 gal. 15 gal. SS Kettle -...

Good crush from a corona mill

I bought my corona mill from a strange local department store, It came in a brown box that said "corn mill" on the side. No manufacturer or markings anywhere. I tried to set it properly without the washers, wasn't getting results, I put in 2 washers per side and got closer. I settled on 1...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

I've been meaning to brew this up for awhile now, I finally got it together. I'm mashing it right now, I stuck to your recipe Sparky, except I used .4lbs of maris otter toasted at 350 for 15 minutes instead of the Victory. I'm also using WLP 005 instead of Nottingham. I'll let you know how it...

    What size mash tun

I use a 38 qt igloo wheelie with a cpvc manifold and valve. The manifold is shaped like a box with one cross piece. I used 1/8 or 1/16 holes, cant remember which. It works great, took forever to drill out though. Install the manifold holes down and you wont get stuck sparges unless you're...

    Splitting a yeast starter

I don't usually mess with my starters too much, usually it's just a half liter starter and it goes in the fermentor. I have two beers lined up for tomorrow and friday, they use the same yeast but my LHBS only had one vial. I made a 500ml starter with 2 oz of DME yesterday, it's looking pretty...

Good crush from a corona mill

I read a trick on there somewhere awhile back about putting a washer on each of the bolts on a corona mill. I finally got around to trying it before milling the grain for my next two brews Sucess!! I've actually got crushed husks and cracked grains instead of whole grains mixed with...

    a few bottling questions

the flakes are most likely break or hops that never settled out of your fermentor, nothing to be too concerned about. use a piece of steel wool over the business end of your racking crane to avoid sucking this stuff into your bottling bucket. the hot sugar water isnt going to mess up your...

    Starting second batch

I understand that you don't want your batches infected oinyo, but i'm going to suggest that a rewarding brew days should involve a rubber bib, let alone a face mask. :D

Is it ok to mash and sparge today and boil tommorow?

Ive definitely wondered about this myself, usually after a particularly long and gruesome sparge. It would probably be preferable to keep the wort cool, but I cant think of any reason it couldnt sit for a day

    Barley wine yeast options

checked my notes, the gravity wasn't as high as I thought, around 1.059. If it was the primary cake i would probably just go for it, but maybe washing and going to a starter is the best way to go.

    Barley wine yeast options

I was hoping to brew up a batch of inaugural barleywine with the intention of laying the bottles down for a year or two for future celebratory/commemorative purposes. Looking over my yeast options it occurs to me that I might be making some compromises. All that I have on hand is one...

    Some Beginner Questions

I'm almost positive that the "booster" is corn sugar (dextrose), which will bump up the gravity of your beer and give you more alcohol in your finished beer. I think I speak for almost everyone on the forum when I say that you are better off using LME or DME in place of the booster. LME...

    strike water too hot?

Like Grinder said, the mash temp is the real key. If you missed you mash temperature by 10 degrees you must have missed the strike water temp by abut 15-20, hard to say without knowing how much heat your mash tun absorbed. In any case, unless you were mashing at 170+ I doubt your beer will be...

    Question for parents of teenagers

I was working out at the gym at school the other day , and went to take a shower afterwards. I had noticed that a lot of guys walked around the locker room in swimsuits, but I guess I had just assumed that they were on the swim team. Anyways while im showering, not in a swimsuit, these guys...

    kegorator build question (collar)

You should plan to urethane or otherwise moisture proof the collar, but I would say you might have a little time to get to it before it becomes serious issue. Your probably fine lagering your dunkel now and coming back to the wood treatment when you have a little more time.

    Brew Kettle false bottom/filter idea

I doubt slow drains would be a problem, it seems like with the insurance provided by 2 extra layers of sediment screen you'll be able to stir the wort a little if the coarsest filter begins to stick. I think the trick to this design, which I seems like a good one, will be making disassembly...

    Hop Extract

err if you're talking about hop tinctures like this one Hops - Liquid Extract / Tincture (1:5) - Alcohol-Free - 1 fl oz - ZIN: 428607 and i think you are... don't even think about it. This isnt made for brewing, its more expensive than hops and would almost certainly ruin your beer.
