Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale - 3rd place 2009 HBT BJCP Comp

Yeah, you are right about the honey making more fermentable sugars. The yeast will eat it all up so there won't be a noticeably sweet taste. I brewed this a while back and posted my process in this thread. Mine turned out great, very clean and crisp and not sweet at all. The lemon adds a great...

    Why beer gods? WHY?!?

Well the half bottle I got to drink was awesome! I think I'll put the next one in a big bowl and see if I can catch more of it, thanks static. Oh and I'll be sure to grow a little facial hair for next brew/bottle day!

    Is this mold?

I have no experience with open air fermentation, but it doesn't look like regular yeast rafts to me. It could be a normal thing for the style. It'd be interesting to know how it turns out.

How many gallons of Homebrew in 2012?

14351-810 (I believe there was a mistype in post 1370 and I didn't see it ever corrected. If it was, please disregard and adjust accordingly) + 5.5 gallons Caldera IPA Clone = 13506.5

Any Sightings of Bigfoot 2012 yet?

The Boise Co-Op has Bigfoot for $9.99 a sixer. I picked up two packs the other day.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale - 3rd place 2009 HBT BJCP Comp

I just put it in the nylon bag, dunked the whole thing in starsan and then dropped it in the secondary. My beer turned out great, but I would think you could boil it and then dump all of it into the secondary. I would just be concerned about losing flavor or potency.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Peppercorn-rye Bock

I just finished bottling, and ended up with a 1.012 FG. While racking into the bottling bucket, all I could smell was peppercorn! I am drinking the 8 oz or so that is left over and it tastes like a winner, can't wait for this one to carb up! I'll come back with a pint picture in about a month.

what will YOU do with your tax return?

We owe 9 dollars to the federal government this year, and God knows they'll come after it.

    Brewing Karma

I would call them and tell them what happened, and offer to return it if they pay for shipping. I'm not gonna pay for their mistake, but informing them of their mistake is the right thing to do here.

The beginning of my beer wall.

Every new or unique sixpack you get, cut the front rectangle out and tack it up at the top of the wall. Make a line of them going all the way around the room of different beers. Or if you can only do 1 wall, start at the top left and go right with them, and when that's done start again on...

    Beer

Giving it away and getting great compliments in return is a pretty good feeling. I love giving out my homebrews.

    Bud Light Platinum 6.0% abv

I can't believe people are buying this crap. It's nothing different really...

I grew up drinking AB but now

Ugh, I almost puked a little in my mouth. Had to take a gulp of my homebrewed Ginger Ale to keep that down. BMC tastes like metal to me, and the horror of it warm is indescribable.
