Autumn Seasonal Beer Scary Balz Pumpkin Ale

BTW, we discovered a growler of this about 6 weeks ago. It had lost some of it's flavor, but not as much one would expect - it was still quite drinkable.

    Rehabbing an old monster freezer

There's no progress on this due to a number of issues. I recommend adding a coat of white paint over the black bed liner. While I love the look, it makes it really tough to spot and remove mold/mildew. I'm getting a LOT of condensation near the lid, likely from the frequent opening and closing.

    National Homebrew Day Plans?

I assume you're referring to this? Trying to brew a modification of Aludwig's Legend-inspired brown ale. Hope y'all don't mind the shameless plug, but I could use some feedback on the grain bill before I order my grains today.

Strange but true home brew story!

Guess I don't belong here. Thanks for the heads up.

SWMBO just found a dog with a note on his collar "this is a good dog, take care"

No excuse. A few years back my husband and I both lost our jobs and house due to my medical issues, but I still made sure my dog (had degenerative heart valves) stayed medicated until he passed away...it meant going without sometimes, but he was an awesome dog, pretty much like a kid to us, and...

SWMBO just found a dog with a note on his collar "this is a good dog, take care"

No way in hell I could resist such a cute puppy face! I'm not a huge fan of rescue organizations, but it beats throwing your dog out on the street to die. When you can, take him for a physical and heartworm test/preventative (if that's appropriate for your area). ....And, congrats on the new...

    Do you have an accent?

Used to think Virginia was southern, then I spent a few years in Tennessee. My first day at the campus bookstore someone asked me if I wanted a "buggy" (shopping cart). When I checked out the cashier asked if I wanted a "sack" (bag) for my stuff. Let's not even start with how Tennesseans tend to...

    Elder Scrolls Skyrim

Took one of the Companions for a partner and let Lydia kick it at the house. Unfortunately seeing her sitting on her ass all the time and giving me lip made me stabby. Really stabby.... @ahaley I logged in for kicks. Level 46 warrior/assassin hybrid and it's on Expert. There were a few quests...

    Elder Scrolls Skyrim

Can't say I've played in months. It's still a great game, but I lost interest after completing all the major quest lines and a good bit of dailies. After Daedric armor it seemed like all faceroll, all the time. If there is something to kill that won't go down like an easy prom date I'd love to...

Planning on moving to kegging. Wanting to use a cheap 2 keg keezer with picnic taps

Looks good. I think most major online brew stores carry them, so just order from the same place you're getting your equipment fittings. I'd also pop for the temperature controller unless you have another way to monitor/maintain storage temps. Maybe someone more experienced could weigh in if you...

Planning on moving to kegging. Wanting to use a cheap 2 keg keezer with picnic taps

We're running picnic taps in our chest freezer with no problem. If it wasn't for the fact that the thing is on the patio, I'd have no heartburn about keeping this as a permanent and cost-effective solution. One thing I will suggest is that you make (or purchase, if so inclined) tap covers.

    Epic Fail

I'm sure she'll find it extra funny since she's having lady problems. :p

    growing hops in VA?

It might be worthwhile to see if Great Lakes has hops for sale in May-ish. Would be interesting to see how much plant growth I'm getting compared to someone in the same locality.

    G*D DA#M you nottingham!!!

Oh damn! (Sorry, I have nothing constructive to offer, just my admiration of your fermentation.)

    Beersmith "Reports"

Agreed. I usually print the plain text version of the report for this exact reason. Plus the text version has room for notes at the bottom.

What kind of music do you listen to while brewing

I'll pull out the old school gangsta rap when I'm pissed at the HOA. Otherwise Rammstein, Korn, Rush, maybe some hard trance. If my husband brews he keeps it mellow: Pink Floyd, George Michael, R&B.

    Legend Brown Ale Clone? (extract)

Welcome to the club! Funny you should mention that. Just last night my husband commented that he wanted to use this as a base for a heavier brew with a hint of roast. Also wondering if the brewer mentioned anything about changes going on at Legend? I was in town hoping to pick up a case of...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Summer/Winter Solstice Clone

Any chance I can cheat by splitting the difference and use Crystal 60? I'm on the hook to brew a few batches and this is the only recipe I have that needs 40 or 80. If not, no biggie. It's more laziness than anything else. **Edit** We decided to brew the oatmeal stout also, so it'll be worth...

    growing hops in VA?

Great! It will be interesting to see how much growth happens today. I also have Nuggett, Tettnanger. Willamette, and a 2nd Cascade potted -- while the Nuggett and Willamette have thick foliage, they don't seem to have as much vertical development. The Tettnanger looks good, so I'm hoping to...
