Kobalt Portable Compressed CO2 Regulator *Lowes*

A lot of people actually do this and I wouldn't say its dumb. These smaller co2 tank should never blow up under normal circumstances. These tanks all have a burst disc that if the co2 tank pressure of the tank goes above ~2200+ PSI, the disc will burst and release the co2 preventing the tank...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Just tried a batch after ~8 weeks in the primary- it still has the rhino farts smell when you pour it. Anyone have the same problem? Would degassing the apfelwein help with the smell a little?

For Sale: CAP REG-1 Electronic Co2 Regulator for hyponics- growing hops?

Got a CAP REG-1 co2 regulator with the co2 bottle I got and I have no use for this. Normally used for hydroponics (hops) or aquarium setups but I don't do either. If you are thinking about using this for force carbonation or kegging, you will need to find a way to convert it somehow. One gauge...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

You might not even need to add it. When mine started smelling I added some yeast nutrients based on the advice of others in this thread. I don't know if the yeast nutrients worked or not, but the smell still persisted and didn't die down until the 4th or 5th day of fermentation.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Came home earlier to a slight smell and saw the apple juice foaming through the airlock. When I added some Fermaid to it the yeast got happy REAL fast and apple foam was flowing out through the neck of the bottle faster so I had to throw on a blow off tube. 10 minutes later no foam just bubbles.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

$2 fan foy DIY stirplate fans

Anyone ever put a heating element into the stirplate to help the yeast? Something like this http://gb.suntekstore.com/Motorcycle-Motorbike-Heated-Grip-Pads-Black.html?&utm_source=gbus&utm_campaign=gbus Some have a knob to adjust heat settings too. Might be a cool project.

After 5 hours, just finished my first batch. Ended horribly help me fix it.

I didn't have enough ice and the water coming out of my tap was already 75*- but lesson learned. Buy more ice and/or invest in a wort chiller. :mug:

I steeped them at 150*. And yea I added ice and bottled water to cool down the wort :( I knew it was a big no no but I thought cooling the hot wort down faster would be more beneficial.

After 5 hours, just finished my first batch. Ended horribly help me fix it.

Started with the Midwest Supplies Groupon deal (http://www.midwestsupplies.com/groupon-homebrewing.html) and ordered the Irish Stout (http://www.midwestsupplies.com/irish-stout.html) with it. As a first timer I knew there was going to be some hiccups along the way, however I think I majorly...
