    South Florida Hop Growing

Glad I found this thread, it has inspired me to give this a shot. I need to make these movable (I plan on remodeling the house soon and am concerned that all the construction could damage the plants and make this whole adventure worthless), so I was thinking of using these planters with a...

    Quick update... Final recipe: #5 2 row #5 wheat .5 oz Hallertau (NZ) @ 60 .5 oz Amarillo @ 20 .5 oz Amarillo @ 5 WL001 mash @ 149-150 for 60 min OG: 1.047 Things went well other than a stuck mash. I attempted to re-stir/vorlauf a few times with no success, I eventually...

First AG recipe and technique question

I will be brewing my first AG this weekend. It is a simple America Wheat. I hope to get a crisp, dry beer with subtle citrus (orange) flavor and nose. #5 2 row #5 wheat 1oz Haullertau (NZ) .5 oz Amarillo .5 oz Amarillo WL001 mash @ 150-152 I have been been doing partial...

Hop spider woes solved! In stainless!

I have all the materials for this build... Have a question. I have use a 16QT kettle for partial mash/partial boils on my gas stove-top. The 5 gallon bag will hit the bottom of the kettle. Any concerns with the mesh bag burning/melting due to the heat generated at the bottom of the kettle?

    First attempt at a CDA/BIPA

As promised here are a few picture. Lost a fair amount of beer due to the amount of hop gunk that ended up in the primary (as compared to the chinook ipa on the right). Will keg next week.

Based on availability of ingredients at my LHBS here is the recipe that I brewed on Monday. 3.0# 2 Row (mashed) 1.0# Munich (mashed) 0.5# Crystal 60L (mashed) 0.5# Aromatic (mashed) 1.0# Carafa II (mashed) 3.0# LME - Light 3.0# LME - Amber 2.0 oz Magnum (60 min) 1.0 oz Simcoe (45...

    First attempt at a CDA/BIPA

Sorry about the PDF...Here is the recipe. This is a partial mash and a partial boil - still in the kitchen. My concern was the computed IBU (BrewTarget), I thought they were low at 42.5. 2.0# 2 Row (mashed) 1.0# Munich (mashed) 0.5# Crystal 60L (mashed) 0.5# Special Roast (mashed) 1.0#...

    First attempt at a CDA/BIPA

This is my first attempt at a CDA/BIPA. I used BrewTarget to formulate the recipe. (see attached) The main concern I have is about the IBUs. Does this hop schedule seem appropriate for the style? If I change the LME to a late addition the software more that doubles the IBUs. Should I...

    My Keezer Build

I have built a similar collar and am planning my pluming order and have a few of questions. 1) what length faucet shank did you use 2) how far down on the collar did you drill for the faucets 3) how far apart from each other (I am planning 3 1/2") Cheers!

    Freezer to keezer build

I don't think you will have an issue with the digital controller. As to insulating the inside of the collar, I would. I plan to build my collar over the holidays (thanks Biking_Brewer for his inspiration). It will be a double collar. The inside collar will use 1 x 10s and will sized to...

    My Keezer Build

Great design! I like what you did with the double collar. I was planning to add an extra set of hinges to my design so the freezer top and the collar opened independently. But I think this can only work if there is no overhang in the back. Does the collar overlap in the back? If is does...

    Wheeled base for keezer

I'm in the process of building one as well. Pictures are posted on my thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/freezer-keezer-build-284078/. I used 2x4 with pocket joints (2 1/2 in. screws) and 2 in. wheels. I also plan to add trim to match the collar (when I can get to that).

    Freezer to keezer build

Here are a few more... Temp controller/First kegged batch: Not to side track this thread but, halfway through racking into the keg I realized the large o-ring on the lid had stuck to the rim and fell in. Luckily I had a spare. I don't think it should hurt the beer but just thought I'd ask.
