    Attention Pittsburgh Hop Growers!

You may be talking about my hops. Depends where you are talking about on 79 but I grow mine right off the ramp there that you would be able to see from the highway.

    5 carboys going

I probably will if the next one turns out the same, I'll have to start doing a lot of cooking. But any suggestions so it doesn't happen?

    5 carboys going

I just ended up dumping I rather save my money in bottles, then seeing if they explode, of risk getting sick in re-racking. But any suggestion for my next attempt to get rid of the vinegary smell or taste?

    5 carboys going

I have 5 carboys going with 5 different recipes in them, because I got excited when I first started and went a little over board but that's okay. I bottled one that I started about 2 months ago. It was very dry almost like a dry white wine but was still drinkable, it was also just bare bones 5...

    still havesting in chicago...

I'd say if the temps are doing to reach that low i'd pick. But if you have decent weather still coming your way let them keep going. Again though it's all going to depend on what the weather is going to be like. Thats awesome though that you're still going! I was done long ago.

First time Hard cider attempt, 2 batches

I have two 5 gal. carboys fermenting for about a week now. One is just an unpasteurized cider with corn sugar, and the second is cider, and a blend of brown sugar, honey, and cinnamon. They fermented like crazy at first then calmed down. Now I have sugar and yeast sediment forming at the bottom...

    Stink bugs on my hops

Yeah after I looked them up they could also be squash bugs or maybe a mix of the two. Yeah, we sell the traps where I work and that's pretty much what they do is attract more. Will the squash bug effect them any differently than the stink bug? Other than just being annoying

Would you by chance have any citra rhizomes you're looking to sell, see that you have them for fresh hops!?

    Stink bugs on my hops

Notice them towards the en of July but in western pa they come out a little then, and then full force in September and October. I left the state last week and came back to find quite the number on my largest bines. Does anyone know if they'll effect my hop nuggets? which 1/3 are producing and...

    Pittsburgh hop garden

Funny you said that, I had just emailed them yesterday before I check on this thread. I'm hoping that they'll be interested or I'll be able to help them out in some way. I had talked to east end, but he's so busy which is great, it just takes a little while to hear back, and beaver brewing co...

    Pittsburgh hop garden

Ahh I see I had a feeling I wouldn't e able to get ahold of them. I'm looking for kind of odd ball varieties to grow along with ones like cascade and nugget ect... I have two local micro brews that I'm talking with along with some home brewers that I'd like to help out and grow for, so except...

    Pittsburgh hop garden

I have about 25 nugget bines and 4 golden bines to harvest here shortly. Does anyone know where I can get them pelletized or how I can do it myself? They are 3rd year plants. Also, does anyone have a source for citra rhizomes? I plan on extending my yard to 200-300 plants next year
