    Star San vs Iodophor PH

Thank you both for your informative replies. I mixed a bucket of Star San yesterday as an experiment. As per the instructions I put one oz of StarSan into 19lts (thats 5 US gallons) and it stayed foggy, it did not clear. I then added 4 litres which brought the total volum of tap water up...

    Star San vs Iodophor PH

I have nitric acid for another item I produce which needs pH to be lowered at times. so I take it from your answer that all I need do is add the Star San to regular tap water and it will bring the pH down anyway?

    Star San vs Iodophor PH

Re Star San - if it only works at 3.5 pH or lower, does one have to get the pH of the water that you mix it into down to 3.5pH or lower for it to work? thi is not mentioned on the Star San container.

Should brown malt and chocolate malt be milled?

"Brewing for Dummies" says that high kilned malts should not be milled as they create a find grist that ends up as a dark brown/gray slimmy sludge in the boil kettle. I'm brewing a brown porter, which has brown malt and chocolate malt in the mix. I bought the grains pre milled as that's the...

    Water Modification Videos, TH's Spreadsheet

The water analysis results which I have don't give a Ca reading (I got them from a quarry which ue the same supply as my house - Long story) Is it possible to deduce the Ca reading form the CaCO3 reading? I know CaCO3 is the 'Total Alkakinity' reading, but would it give an idea of what the...

I've checked through many threads but failed to see anything on this. Basically I want to shift from Gas to electric, and I also want to increase my brew size. So I'm wondering if there is any guidance anywhere here, or else where on how to match the element size to the size of the boil...

    Water Modification Videos, TH's Spreadsheet

Bobby M's videos were a great help. Did he, or anyone else, make videos for the 3.0 version of the calculators? May be there isn't that much difference between the original and the latest vids? Is it possible to learn how to use them from Bobby M's original 3 videos?
