    Perlick pouring too fast now

I have a 3-tap home keggerator, with three Perlick 575SS taps. One has recently just started pouring REALLY fast... like 2-3 times the volume. I didn't change anything else internally (i.e., tubing lengths, etc.)... Just to be sure it was the tap (and not a super carbonated keg), I...

Frigidaire 14cu foot upright freezer - coils in walls?

Model #FFU14F7HBJ Frigidaire Freezer Does this look like it has cooling coils in the walls? Or does this just have the coils and everything in the back and just blows cold air in to freeze? I'm trying to figure out if this can be modified to a lagering chamber and if I can drill through the...

Chart of mash temps and water/grain mash ratio by style

I'm looking for a some sort of 'chart' that lists styles of beer and recommended mash temps based on the style... and also recommended grain/water mash ratios based on style. Does something like that exist?

Question about yeast catcher on bottom of connical

When using a PVC or other type yeast catcher on the bottom of the conical, how is it actually used? Do you leave the valve open when the wort is placed in the conical and allow the yeast to build up in the yeast catcher? Or do you allow fermentation to occur and then open the valve and allow...

    Dry Hopping with Conical

I'm about to finish my initial 7 days of ferment in my 14-gallon Blichmann. I want to try hop 2 different varieties of hops over the next 2 weeks. One for 7 days, another for 14. I will be using WHOLE hops. First I will drain the trub/yeast from the bottom to get the beer off the yeast...

Hops for IPA... All citrus or mixture of citrus/pine

So, should an IPA use hops that are a balance of citrus/pine or have brewers been successful with an all citrusy blend of hops? (i.e. Citra, Cascade, Centennial, Amarillo, Magnum)

    Secondary Fermentation with Conical Fermenters

This is my first time using my Blichmann conical (or any conical for that matter). For a secondary fermentation, I was going to rack to a 6 gallon carboy, but then read you can secondary ferment in the conical, by just draining the yeast off and removing some of the trub? Is it that...

First Brew on the new home brewery

After about 9 months of on-again/off-again building of Kal's system, I brewed my first batch... Yesterday (American Memorial Day) was my first time brewing on my new automated system. Despite one big issue (one of my pumps broke mid-brew), everything came together. Luckily it broke...

    Normally Open Contact Block needed

NOTE: I didn't want to post this in the regular HBT classifieds since Electric Brewing is such a small segment of this forum and I didn't want it to get lost. Does anyone have an extra Normally Open switch contact block for the back of the push button and rotary switches that Kal uses that...

    Black Pug Brewing Progress Thread

My 1/2" cork sheets were dropped at the waterjet cutter today to make perfect 17 1/2" circles for the underside of the kegs. (That's just cardboard in the photo below). This evening, I mocked up placement of the vent hood today. I suspended it with threaded rods, washers, and hung from metal...

    Polishing my kegs..

Man' this is a lot of work, but coming out great. Still have to do the #5 polish. One down, two to go... I guess I'll drill holes for all of the elements, ball valves, etc. on the next one BEFORE polishing. I'd hate to do all that polishing and then mess up the holes.
