    Conditioning

I'm looking to step up my game with aged beers. two questions: 1. When it comes to conditioning beers bigger beers, is the proper method to leave the unfermented beer in a secondary and store in a 45-55 degree "cellar" chamber for the appropriate amount of time to condition and then bottle...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

    Alt and temps

I know altitude affects boiling point, but does it affect mash temps as well?

    gnat in starter

That's kind of where I am at too. I don't have time to make another starter if I want to brew this weekend. I just don't want to ruin the next 4 months by pitching bad things into a lager that I will be looking forward to in 4 months. I have some back up vials of lager yeast that I can use

    gnat in starter

There is a stupid little gnat in my yeast starter which has been going for about 15 hours...Should I use it or dump it?

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

Yep I used that exact calculation s few days ago and came up with the same answer. It's not a big concern because I do achieve a boil. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. The main pitfall is that the boil timer doesn't activate since 100C is never reached. But I can just set it...

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

I set it to 102C. I even tried it in manual when I was cleaning the BM. It did achieve a mild boil, so the water temp is ok, it's just that the readout on the control panel stays at 95C

    Speidel Braumeister (brewmaster)

I just used mine for the first time last weekend. It was awesome to use and very easy. The only problem I had was that my control panel never got above 95C, even though there was a mild boil. I am not sure if it's because I live at 4,000 ft or something is wrong with the control panel. Not a...

    My new Keezer

By the way "instillation" = "insulation"...stupid smart phone auto correct :) For more info on the collar, I used 2x10 to make the inner collar and then 1x12 as a decorative "paneling" to lock in the collar to the freezer. So the 1x12 is even with the top of the 2x10 and overlaps the freezer by...

    My new Keezer

It's a frigidaire 13 cu ft. I used 2x10 collar so I can fit that 7th oh the hump with my co2 and nitro gas cylinders. I messed around with some spray foam and it looks like I won't have a career in instillation.
