    Co2 tank

I took the bottle back and it was apparent the wrong valve was put on the bottle. They swapped it out. Problem solved. Sure took me on a wild goose chase!

    Co2 tank

I understand that. With the nylon washer that little pin size hole is still the source of my co2 release. From what I read, maybe it is a wrong valve? I wanted to check here before I went back to the store on Monday.

    Co2 tank

I bought a new 10# co2 tank. When I hook up the regulator it leaks air. I took a closer look and there is a hole in the threads. Do I have the right bottle?? The valve appears to be CGA 346. Thanks!

Hop Randall build & use questions

I only used it once for a homebrew competition. It foamed a bit but once it got going it was fine. The second chamber only filled about half way. It was a pretty cool experiment. Don't pack the hops in there.

    Important Statement From Midwest Supplies

Got a letter in the mail today. Checked over last months statement and had 3 charges from Walmart.com over 2 days for the same amount. Guess I'lll chalk that up to credit card fraud. Awesome.

    Short's Soft Parade Clone

Def not 6 months. I normally go for 3 weeks then as they age longer, the better they get. My latest recipe really isn't soft parade. It is however a fruit rye ale, which soft parade is. If that makes sense.

    Short's Soft Parade Clone

    152. The fruit will help dry it out in the secondary. Last batch I did 75% 2 row, 20% toasted rye flakes and 5% white wheat. Had a little more rye bite which was good with the fruit. Good luck!

    Short's Soft Parade Clone

Traded out 1 lb of wheat for 1lb toasted rye. Not so much soft parade spot on but not bad. It seems shorts is using more blue/black then red berries. Good luck.

    Traverse City, MI

Personally I would look at other cuisine while in TC. There really isn't anything great in the pizza world. You might try The Filling Station. It's brand a new brewery/ pizza place in the old train depot. Mancinos is my go to for pizza and sandwiches for lunch. But the restaurant business is...

Look up 7 monks taproom. The filling station. Shorts brewery(bellaire). The beverage company has a good selection of local beers. Take a drive on the old mission pen. and see some of the vineyards. Take the tour at GT Distilery.

    flying with brew

I've never had a problem. We put beer in the unpressurized nose of a private plane and fly up to 45,000 ft. Most airliners stay in the 30's. I will say, they are mighty cold when you get back down. +1 for putting them in a plastic bag. I'm more nervous with bottles. When you get to...

    Short's Soft Parade Clone

Clone on the left. I might reduce the wheat back to 1 pound and increase the rye to 4 pounds. Also I will increase the blueberries to get a darker color. Appearance- Cloudy, might be due to the wheat. I did cold crash for 2 days. May increase cold crash to 7 days. Taste- Pretty close...

    Short's Good Humans?

This beer has been in the keg for around 3 weeks now. It is really close to the original. It was still green after a week in the keg, but now it has really gotten better. One thing I might change is dry up in the keg to retain more of the hop nose. I did bottle 6 bottles, and after 3 weeks...

Taking a Brewery Road trip around Lake Michigan

Shorts brewing, Bellaire, MI. I would put that one on top of the Traverse City area breweries.

    Short's Soft Parade Clone

Tasted the hydrometer sample and it is slightly sweet with a spice undertone. When I racked to the secondary it was 1.017. Airlock activity was minimal and most of the krausen had fell. With one thing in mind, more red than blue, I ended up winging it. Strawberry 39 oz Blueberry 12...
