    Forced BIAB

I BIAB and love it. I use this $11 pulley. I just hang the bag over the kettle while I heat to boil. It makes draining so easy. I love it. https://www.brewinabag.com/products/ratchet-pulley-1-4-metal-150-lbs

Lager yeast and cider, wanting to try

I’ve made cider with S23, Novalager and Diamond yeasts. All were fermented at 55F. All were good. But, I like S04 best for cider. It seems to add a bit of complexity that I like. My ciders are all 100% store bought apple juice. The only variety is the yeast.

    Picnic Tap 2.1

I just slip a piece of silicone tubing on the lip of the spout. It barely hangs on, but it works great for foam free bottle fills.

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

Maybe the noble hops have less fruit character so the fruity esters are more noticeable? That’s interesting. I have only tried Verdant in American English recipes.

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

I agree. I have used Verdant in lots of American hoppy beers; IPA, APA, Amber, and even a blonde ale. I think it is a great substitute for Chico. I think Verdant gives a nice crisp finish with pleasant, but mild fruity esters.

    Picnic Tap 2.1

I have 4 of them. They pour better after being in the fridge overnight to cool down. Mine all pour slightly different. One gives no head at all. One gives a 1/4” of head and the others are in between. They work great in my opinion. Mine are attached directly to the keg and the pressure is...

    Beersmith still Alive?

Is the copy to brew log button available on BeerSmithRecipes.com? I don’t see it. I do something like you are saying. I have manually created a brew log folder and I move brewed recipes there. When I want to rebrew a recipe I go to the log and make a copy.

PicoBrew Z - Whirlpooling and Bitterness

Most of the oils from previous hop additions should be in the wort not still in the hop pellets. At least, I would say that is the case for the older additions. More recent additions may not have been as thoroughly flushed. I think that hop oils continue to isomerize below boiling temps. I am...

Plan B(eer): Using a PicoBrew Z Completely Offline

I like my Z. If I can fix it, I will. I have had it one year. I hope to get at least 2 more years. Hopefully more with replacement parts. The inside of the Z is fairly modular and easy to understand. With this forum and the FB group I think we can help each other through many problems.

Plan B(eer): Using a PicoBrew Z Completely Offline

Is this working? I see notes that you have added support for Zseries but I am not sure if you consider it functional or not? Also, is their a recommendation for HTTPS support. All the other devices use HTTP but Zseries uses HTTPS. I ran the chiefwigms server. It gives an HTTP error. I assumed...

    Picobrew Z

I got the error #6 when I had pump suction/flow issues. I had pump suction problems twice. First time, a mouse chewed on the drain tube grommet and the pump couldn’t pull liquid from the step filter. Second time, I lost the gasket that goes inside the inline filter housing. This stopped the...
