    Brewing a barleywine (my first) and a smaller beer off of the 2nd runnings. Haven't put a huge amount of thought into the smaller beer. Just hope it's tasty.

    What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

    Bottled my first lager, a Marzen/Oktoberfest, at the LHBS. Got 2 Big Mouth bubblers delivered. Watched Robbie Lawler get starched by Tyron Woodley (who saw that coming?). Whew.

    What I did for beer today

    I have been wanting to brew since Tuesday, but couldn't find the free time until this a.m. Woke up at 5 and began brewing at 6:15 a.m. At the end of the session i hope to have a tasty Palisade/2 row SMaSH fermenting away!

    I have two SMaSHes for this month. soon after i will begin a barleywine that i have been wanting to try. I have a Marzen fermenting that i need to bottle before 8/1.

    i don't know for sure, but my brother uses it as an ale yeast. Neither he nor i have a setup for lagering yet. My friend, the source of the yeast, can lager. but i am not sure if he has lagered with this yeast. i'll try to find out.

    i was told to use only 25% (1/4) of the package at a time. seems about right. i'll make a starter.

    picked up some Cara 30, caps, and a sample of Serbian yeast. It came well recommended but i don't know much about it. i have tasted about 3 different brews it has been used in. seemed to work fine. Anyone know anything about it?

    Brewtoad - Confused about batch size

    i love Brewtoad. it's where i do all my rough drafts and revisions of my recipes until i like them. i wish they had a setting for partigyle brewing, but nothing is perfect i guess.
