    Heating element

A coil in the HLT to control the mash temp is in the making, but I want to use the enclosed element in my kettle to boil the wort. Can then use bigger elements without worries of scorching the wort. Full idea is to weld in a second bottom in the kettle. Fill the new space with glycol or other...

    Heating element

Hi I need some help with plans for a heating element. Read somewhere about enclosing the element in a liquid filled cilinder. (Glycol?) That would distribute the heat over a bigger surface area. Anybody have experience with this?

    Mixing wine and beer

Rather than putting all my eggs in one basket I think I'll experiment properly. Split the wort in 3. Then I can ferment 1 spontanously. Sterilise the grapes for other 2 and ferment with wine and ale yeast. From the ratebeer insert I don't hold much hope for a winner but I'll post the results

    Multiple yeast fermentation

Hi Does anyone have experience with using more than one yeast strain in one fermentation? A few months back I tried my hand at making a hybrid beer, ale recipe with lager yeast. My temperatures were completely wrong resulting in a long lag time to start fermenting and a slow decline in...

    Peracetic acid as sanitizer

Hi I have read on the forums of guys using peracetic acid as a no-rinse sanitizer. As I work in a hospital I got my hands on some PeraSafe powder they use to sterilise surgical eguipment. Do I mix in the same concentration as for medical use or should I use a weaker solution in my homebrewing...
