    Any recommended destinations in Destin?

Going to Destin this weekend with the family, anyone know of any must go bars/stores for beer? Any beers I should not pass up? I'm sure the wife will love to go out and eat alone sometime as well. Are there any restaurants I should try? Thanks

I'm never truly happy with my homebrew

Anyone else feel this way? Even when I'm initially thrilled with a brew, eventually I think there are balance issues or something that could make it better. "Needs more pine flavor, needs to be more complex, I wish it was a little sweeter, could have better head retention...."

    American or English IPA?

Which would you classify this recipe as? I'm thinking American but the extra sweetness from honey malt and challenger hops makes me want to say English. http://hopville.com/recipe/1660644

    Danstar Production date.

I haven't been able to find this info. Mr. Malty says it would be a year before the BBD. This is impossible though because the BBD is 7/14. Anyone know what the production date actually is relative to the BBD? The viability range of the dates I guessed is pretty large.

    My ferm chamber build

I'm currently using a chest freezer as my fermentation chamber, but I plan on converting it to a kegerator soon so I'm making my own ferm chamber to replace it. It's going to be big enough to fit 2 carboys in pretty snug. The outside dimensions are 48 x 26 x 40. I based my design off of...

    Eggnog Ale

Need some thoughts on this recipe. I haven't made too many spiced beers and I want to make sure it has a medium high thick body without being overly "Southern Tier" like sweet. http://hopville.com/recipe/1667750

Abita Biere de Garde and Tin Roof's Watermelon Wheat

The Mrs. and I tried these the other day at the local bar. I personally am not a watermelon lover so no surprise to me I thought it was gross. That aside though, it almost had a sort of astringency I couldn't get past. It also had little to no wheat flavor. I was shocked at how clear it was for...

Am I just being paranoid, or is it right to question this?

So I just called up my City's water board today and this is what the guy told me the levels were. Ca: 57 Mg: 48 Na: 42 CaCo3: 103 SO4: 0 Cl: 37 pH: 8.9 I was pretty shocked when he told me the sulfate was 0. I asked him about it and he said that they aren't the ones that do the...

    Coffin Keezer Help

I recently acquired a like new 14.8 freezer for $150 on craigslist and am going to be turning it into a coffin keezer. I'm debating on how to do the tower though. I'm thinking of having the lines run through insulated pvc pipe as opposed to insulating the coffin itself. I figure there is less...

    Campden Tablets

Ok, I'm kind of confused about something here and was hoping someone could explain this to me. I've been brewing for a year now and I decided to make a cider for the summer. I was told that I should use a campden tablet near the end of fermentation to kill the yeast and retain some of the...

    Tart mint cider

I'm gonna try and make a Cider soon but I don't have too much experience with them. I made one last year and it came out pretty great. It was sweet though and being that this is going to be a summer drink I wanted something a little more refreshing. I was wondering if I could get any advice...

I need a name for my beer

It's a Honey strawberry beer. It's amber and has hints of wheat in it. Most of my beer names revolve around video games, internet memes, or movies. Pretty much anything nerdy:D I'm stumped on what to name this one though. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Previous beer names: Dos...

    Thoughts on this label?

I'm a noob to photoshop so I don't really know anything too advanced but I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on this label. I like where it's going so far but for the neck part it seems kind of....empty. Also, the gradient part on the neck portion is bigger than the actual...

    Thoughts on this recipe?

I plan on making a chili beer for cinco de mayo and this is the recipe I got so far. http://hopville.com/recipe/1147495/blonde-ale-recipes/chili-beer I'd like it to be a low to moderately hopped beer that is smooth. I don't want anything to overpower the flavor of the chili peppers. I plan...

Any suggestions on this IPA recipe?

Hey, I'm gonna try and make an IPA for my next batch and would appreciate any input. I have a few hops left over so I wanted to try and use some in the recipe. I'm thinking I should probably add some more dry hops but not certain how much or what variety would be good. OG=1.07 5.5gal 153 mash...

    Perfect brew days

It's been almost a year since I started brewing (maybe 6 months of doing AG), and I finally had my first perfect brew day! It's been a lot of trial and error getting a system down and hitting the right mash temps. After 4 AG batches though, I finally got it down perfect with no mishaps, and...
