    Kegerator for Soda

Just saw your post in the Italian soda thread. You can use a counter pressure bottle filler -- it should hold the carbonation after capping. But the bottles should immediately go in the fridge to avoid fermentation. However, my experience with counter pressure filling is more liquid goes on...

    Kegerator for Soda

Serve soda water and have syrups and whipped cream for making Italian sodas. By doing this, you won't have to clean funky cola/root beer smells from your lines and keg.

    Oktoberfest ( Rochester, MI)

Yup! I'll be staying at a friend's apartment near Unionbrau. Probably going to do O-fest by ear. I'll likely grab a table with a couple friends in the HB or Schottenhammel (sp?) tent around 8am Saturday (opening day).

    Tucson bars

+1 for Gentle Bens I also agree with the previous post about Thunder Canyon -- kinda boring. I really liked Breckenridge Brewery, but hear they've long since shut down their Tuscon restaurant.

Q for Portland OR area brewers

Hi guys, It looks like I'm moving up to Portland. My office is near the 217/I5 interchange (Tigard area). So I'll likely do my home shopping near there. How is the tap water quality (for brewing AG) in that area? Thanks! Bob

Need some feedback regarding Beersmith and AG

I now have 2 all-grain batches under my belt, both using Beersmith. My first batch was not too good. My second batch (currently in the secondary) tastes really good, but there are some aspects that are bothering me. Here's my grain bill for a 5 gal. final batch size: 8.75 lb Maris Otter...

    Advice Quick!!

Have you ever gone camping and used iodine to sanitize your dish water? Starch + iodine turns the water blueish. Don't return the test water to your mash.

Water analysis - town doesn't test (southern RI)

Maybe the person you spoke to didn't know how to obtain the report in the first place. My water quality report states the following, "In order to ensure that tap water is safe to drink, the U.S. EPA and the State Department of Health Services (Department) prescribe regulations that limit the...

    Hoegaarden

I like Celis White better, probably because it's fresher than the imported stuff. But, I've never seen the Grand Cru version. I've never been able to find Celis White out here in California.

Brewing in the Bay Area, California

I envy your location. I'll be going there tomorrow around noon to pick up supplies for brewing on Sunday. Stephen, I see your also into motorcycles and scuba. Clubman's All British Weekend is coming up in March; and if you can stand the cold water, Monterey's kelp forests are spectacular...

Brewing in the Bay Area, California

Yeah, well. In retrospect, I did a number of things wrong. A buddy of mine with all-grain experience was supposed to fly down from Portland to help me. He canceled, but I went ahead with it anyway. I have a fairly nice all-grain and brew kettle set-up (two 10 gal Gotts for mash and sparge...

Brewing in the Bay Area, California

Howdy! I've been brewing extract off & on since about 1995. I brewed my first all-grain in July last year for the Sam Adams Longshot. One judges comment was, "This beer is seriously flawed". So, that's become my new tagline! I found this site while searching online for how I can improve...
