    Orchards near my city

I have read several links about what I am looking for but neither of those guides really tells me what those apples taste like. I know what some of them are like, because I have bought them from a grocery store, but I have no real way to choose between the rest other than stand in the orchard...

    Orchards near my city

There are four orchards within an hour of my house, I am going to drive out in a couple of weeks and pick up five or ten gallons of cider to ferment in five gallon batches. I have made great caramel cider before from store bought juice, but I want something that really brings out the apples...

MyPin TA4-SNR for fermentation temperature control

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but what did you actually hook the STC to. I am also looking at one for a brewing project and I want to know if it will work.

Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Ovila Quad

Hmmm. I find myself skeptical at the ability of a malt to replicate the taste of actual plums. Tell me how yours turns out. Or just send me a bottle.

    10 1-gallon meads

Just enough honey to cover the bottom of the pot. Now turn on the heat. The honey starts boiling pretty quickly. The entire honey cook time was roughly 6 minutes. The color started dramatically and rapidly changing around minute 4 and by minute 6 my whole apartment was filled with acrid...

    10 1-gallon meads

So life has gotten in the way recently but here I am back with another mead. The gallon of Cyser Bochet is sitting in the fermentor. I cooked up two pounds of honey instead of the usual 1 pound the recipe called for. Pics to follow soon.

Fat Basset Bochet Cyser - Cider with "Burnt" Honey

I just made mine. The honey went from honey colored to BLACK in the space of two minutes. It then filled my entire apartment with smoke. Fun times.

    10 1-gallon meads

    10 1-gallon meads

Photo time Not the most appetizing mead at this point. But who gives a crap how it looks. Edit: Thanks to HokieBrewer for showing me what to do with the image thing.

    10 1-gallon meads

So I threw together the Hefty braggot. I chose this one to do first because I had the yeast on hand. The recipe was all grain and I thought that this would be easy peasy with only a 1 gallon batch size. What I did not think about was how small and crappy my kitchen is. My brewpot is somewhere...

    Should I re-sanitize

I was going to say this before i even read the thread. After I read the thread I said, this guy needs to find a couple hundred bucks lying on the street corner and use it to buy a keg.

    how does one sanitize honey?

I have heard a few people say that nothing can live in honey. This isn't strictly true. Nothing can GROW in honey. Yeast has a fancy cell wall that can keep out much of that sugar, and wild yeast spores have evolved to be resistant to being killed. Long story short, the yeast in the honey is...

    10 1-gallon meads

How do you get a tight seal between the airlock tube and the plastic lid? I see a black thing that looks kind of like an o-ring.

    Belgian tripel not drinkable

Belgian beers are supposed to ferment high anyhow. That might have been a little cold even. What is the alcohol tolerence of your yeast? Everything I am reading here says RDWHAHB.

    10 1-gallon meads

So I found honey for only $14 per gallon. Its a limited time offer but I figured that I should make as much mead as possible while this good thing lasts. The honey is in florence mississippi and the apiary owner is a nice guy and a brewer himself. PM me for his contact info. I have been doing...

So I know that this is like 10 years later but the recipe would be great for this.

    Lead-free marbles?

Lead doesn't dissolve as well in water as some people think. I think that would be double if the lead is in a solid solution with glass, which is pretty darn inert. I wouldn't be too worried.

    What's Wrong With My Wife?

She is too young. All these problems will go away if you just age her for a while. I'll check back in a year and you will be telling me how great she turned out.
