Lincoln park here. I usually hit Brew & Grow or Brew Camp, the first having a larger selection than the later. But I must mention Chaos brew club does a fair amount of group bulk malt orders. Check them out, they actually have a club house you can go to and brew.

It's a seal somewhere between keg and faucet, check the keg o ring too.

I used baking soda on some kegs, worked great. They were well maintained and stored under pressure so the syrup wouldn't crystallize.

Boy did you ask a mouthful. The overcarb question is easy. N2 does not dissolve well into liquid beer. You can crank up the pressure quite high and not risk over carbonation, the beer will just come out of the tap faster or be able to be sent over long runs of beer line. That's why bars use beer...

Think about calling NFC gas in Chicago, they do hydro tests, fill and sell tanks. Also, make sure you have a good wrench for the regulator to tank connection or it will leak.

I usually use maltodextrine and lactose to have residual sweetness, might be cheating, but it makes for a great chocolate stout.

Wouldn't worry too much, I've done similar things. Besides, most of the time when brewing your hands are pretty clean anyway.

Not bad at all, usually drink home grew when not a a bar. Fresh hop front, clean notes, good hop residual. Would buy again.
