Video Game Nerds, need your recommendation

MW3 might be a good option. The campaign is only 6 hours, but the special ops missions can take up some more time, and multiplayer is a total time suck...

    Growing a mother.

It will most likely work to grow a mother, but it might carry the ginger flavor with it. The flavor will probably fade after you make a couple of batches, but I used an unflavored starter to make sure I could have plain kombucha and flavor it how I wanted...

Does anyone make custom control panels?

Thanks for all the input! I checked out Kal's site extensively, and I'm using his design as my "inspiration", but it's definitely more than I need. I'm basically looking for a "Kal Lite" panel with similar aesthetic appeal...

Does anyone make custom control panels?

... I think (hope) you meant features?? :) I'm looking for two PID's, element on lights, element switch between HLT and BK, 2 pump switches, panel on/off. If you're willing to make the elements and probes as well, that's definitely something I'd consider...

Does anyone make custom control panels?

I've been searching this forum and many other corners of the web to figure out the cost of making the control panel I want for my future electric brewery. My electrical skills are crap, but I'm sure I could put a control panel together with the help of an electrical engineer friend... My...

    all cascade IPA ?

I made an all cascade IPA once and I wasn't a huge fan. I may have had some other issues with the beer, but the taste wasn't terribly enjoayble. try making a tea out of some of the hops and see if you like the flavor by itself.

    Dry Ice?? in Wort Chiller

The guy at my LHBS suggested to fill and freeze water balloons. They don't melt as fast as cubed ice, and are cheap...

    Scoby Question

My guess is that you'd have malt & hop flavored vinegar... try throwing an extra scoby and see what happens.

    Beer Tower Cooler?

I built a fan just like this, with a tube into the tower. I used it for about a week and then i realized that the constant whirring of the fan was more annoying than a little extra foam on the first pour. If you're trying to cool a tower off of a kegerator, I would suggest going with...

40 Paces Brewery, Single Vessel e-BIAB

Cool set-up! I'm debating on going with a full-blown eHERMS rig or just going for the minimalist eBIAB approach. Question - How do you keep the weight of the bag off the element? I'm assuming you don't just drop it in and leave it, do ya?

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

I'm learning this very quickly. I've been lurking your site for a while now, and figuring out exactly how much it's going to cost... I need to give my fiance a nice shopping spree when I'm done with all of this! Kal, is there any news on a "package" version of your brewery? I definitely want...

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

a switch seems like an option too... is it safe to turn a 220v switch on and off repeatedly to maintain a temperature?

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

Yeah, I think I'll go with the PWM... I just question my ability to safely put something together without an idiot proof list of directions (like Kal's) :o

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

The difference in my price was from using a 4500 or 5500 watt element in the kettle, and a 240v source. I figure, if i'm going to install the element into the kettle, I might as well install what i'll use when I actually complete the full set up... I probably should have included that bit of...

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

Even with the low cost of the PWM itself, it looks like I'll be around $140 after buying the element, SSR, Heat sinks, cords, enclosure, switch, etc - and that's before shipping. Maybe I'm better off with getting the Electric Brew Heater mentioned earlier? Will the 15" heater boil 5 gallons...

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

That would be great... I'm trying to pull together an idea of the cost, so I can start dropping hints to the fiance ;) I need to include everything involved to get power from the wall to the kettle... once I have a parts list, i can figure out the best deals on shipping. Thanks so much...

Electric brewing without a Control Panel??

I'm currently doing a cost comparison between PID and PWM options... the PID is shaking out about twice as much as the PWM. I really wish I knew more about this stuff though, I really don't know if I have all the parts I need. Does anyone have a parts list for a VERY basic PID or PWM control...
