You know you're a home brewer when?

You fill the propane tank for beer more often than the grill.

    American Amber Ale Mojave Red

I'm not sure about "fixing" the beer at this stage, but if you didn't use irish moss in your boil, consider it next time.

    My 1st Score!

$10?! How'd you like to save yourself the trouble of cleaning that stuff up and double your money? I'm guessing the clean-up alone will be $200 and 40 hours of work. So, according to that estimate, I can save you hundreds of dollars and hours of effort...plus you'll make $10. Now that's a...

    Mash Tun...pvc or copper?

Hey, I have an ice cooler that I use to mash and sparge. I want to add a spigot and filter system. I assume the cooler is some sort of pvc, but I'm not sure. Because of the high temperature, I've always worried about the plastic, so I have a couple questions: 1.) Is it safe to use the cooler...

    Microbrewery/Brewpub and Homebrew

I'm just curious, anybody who has opened their own microbrewery or brewpub...or anyone who knows the answer...what are the biggest differences in brewing procedures once you move from small batches to larger, consistant batches? I'm mostly interested in the processes that help produce a...

    No gas release

I brewed a scottish ale this weekend and everything went great...but I have yet to see any gas release. A friend of mine brewed the same day with an Irish yeast and his hasn't stopped bubbling since it started...over 24 hours ago. I used a scottish yeast and have an active beer...constantly...

    New home brewer

Hey jkh, an Irish stout sounds awesome right now! I'm very new too, but I've read that fermenting in the primary for too long can absorb yeasty flavors or something to that extent. I don't know for sure, but just thought i'd put that out there in case it helps.

    Fermentation & Irish Moss

Hi, I've brewed a few times with a friend but more recently decided to do a couple of my own all-grain batches. I used Irish moss for the first time and put a couple tbsp's instead of 1 tsp. The foam (k-word?) looks pretty odd and there is quite a bit of sediment (wort was poured through a...
