    Kölsch Bee Cave Brewery Kölsch

It did turn out fine, thanks! Nice warm weather beer.

    Kölsch Bee Cave Brewery Kölsch

So I snapped a two year hiatus from brewing today and gave this one a shot. To say my all grain skills are rusty is an understatement... Ended up with almost 6 gallons at 1040 OG (I'm kicking myself for not bumping up the grains more from Ed's recipe). I bumped both up proportionally by a...

    Stupid Mistake...Frozen Beer

Yeah I kind of thought that if anything, head retention will suffer the most. I hate when I make brewing mistakes. It's hard to RDWHAHB when it's all frozen!

    Stupid Mistake...Frozen Beer

So in the process of kegging a batch last night, I somehow left the probe to the temp controller hanging out of the keezer. It tried and tried to get my whole garage down to 40 degrees...but only managed to freeze my beer. :smack: All of the bottles that I have in it are frozen. I had a...

Dumb Dumb hotels, removed the bottle openers

I have one of these on my key ring: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/d132/?srp=8 It has come to the rescue many times.

First Brew, no time for a starter! :[

Since you don't have time to make a starter with liquid yeast, I would just rehydrate a packet of Safale 05 for the style you're brewing. Safale 05 is a good dry yeast. I've used it many times. Good luck!

    Low Bottle Carbing Temperature

If you sanitized everything properly, carefully controlled your temp when you pitched, and controlled the fermentation temp, then the beer is most likely just green (and probably not fully carbed). I know it's hard to do since it's your first batch, but just keep them tucked away for a few...

Caribou Slobber Brown Ale Extract Kit from Northern Brewers

It's a good kit. Smooth as silk. Coffee is present, but plays the background. Pretty subtle in my opinion. NB's Nukey Brown Ale might be better suited for your tastes since you're not fond of coffee flavors.

Gluten Free, Grain Free, Paleo Beer

Just wanted to chime in regarding the Paleo eating lifestyle. Paleo is definitely not the new fitness "religion". People who speak negatively of it have most likely never stuck to it long enough to reap the benefits from it. I lost about 35 LB in 7 months without exercising by eating Paleo...

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

Brewed the extract version on Saturday. I was lazy and didn't make a starter. Pitched a vial of WLP013 (London Ale) straight into the bucket. Once it got going, it really took off. I had to change the airlock and it was seeping out of the side of the fermenting bucket. My new year's...

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

I've read through quite a few pages, but I can't see where anyone asked about using Safale 04. I have a yeast cake of it left from when I racked off a 5 gal batch of Biermuncher's OktoberFAST on 10/8/12. So, a couple of questions. Thoughts on using the 04? I'm thinking that it will be fine...

American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale

This is a very good recipe. I made the jump to all grain back in March, but I tried this one 'cause sometimes 6 hour brew days suck! This is one of the best beers that I've made. My favorite style is Imperial IPA, so my opinion might be a bit skewed, but I think it's the perfect amount of...

American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale

I brewed this on 7/8/12. I racked this to secondary and dry hopped yesterday. Nailed my FG (1.014) using some washed Notty with a starter. The hydrometer sample tasted great. I think I'll let the hops do their thing for a week, then I'll cold crash for 4 days to 1 week. Then I'll keg and...

Thank you. That's what we did. It's in the fermentation chamber, and hopefully it will be bubbling away in the morning.

    Help with Mini Mash/Cereal Mash

My buddy and I picked up everything we need for this Spotted Cow clone yesterday, but when we got home from our LHBS, I realized that I forgot to tell them not to put the Munich in with the 6-row, flaked corn and flaked barley: BeerSmith Recipe Printout - http://www.beersmith.com Recipe...

Alright, I need some help, guys. My buddy and I picked up everything we need for Boerderij_Kabouter's mini mash recipe from page 3 of this thread today, but when we got home from our LHBS, I realized that I forgot to tell them not to put the Munich in with the 6-row, flaked corn and flaked...
