So I found a meat grinder that I want to mill grain with...

the beer to keg after 2 months of waiting and it is pretty darn good. Odd sweet flavor and brown in color, had to put it into secondary to get all the stuff to settle out but it came out much better than I hoped. Still, I'm not doing it again- I bought a grain mill.

    How Much Sugar

Ill just put it in the keg and force carb it like i would a full batch. Bottling sounds like such a pain in the ass anyway. Maybe Ill try bottling when i have a nice full batch to play with but not being able to measure how much is there is stopping me from priming. I mean Id measure it out but...

    How Much Sugar

I've made a batch of ale that did not drain well (due to my meat grinding the grain https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/so-i-found-meat-grinder-i-want-mill-grain-380439/) and now want to bottle what I have but there is not a whole lot of the stuff so I was wondering what the standard amount of corn...

So I found a meat grinder that I want to mill grain with...

today I ran out of milled grain and had to use the meat grinder. I had 8 pounds left so I need another 4 pounds before I can begin. First off I will say that it is great at grinding, it is destroying the grains to a greater degree than the grain mill I was using at my guru's house. There is a...

How this for a Amarillo IPA?

A 2 and 1/2 gallon batch? Really dude? Just commit to making something, perhaps I'm just some alcoholic :rockin: but 2.5 gallons is almost not worth the time to brew for me. The ingredients look delicious though. Hope it turns out good, but if it does the problem is you'll want more than 2.5...

    single hop IPA recipe

I have used Citra with great Northwestern pale malt with great success. These were my first two AG batches and I am using them again this Sunday. I have the pellets and some whole hops (plus the bag to boil em' in). Was planning on using the whole hops at the beginning of the boil to as much out...

So I sent the wife to the LHBS

I use carbouys to ferment. and siphon into them with a tube and plastic siphon, very low tech so I'm thinking that the siphon would clog quite a bit.

So I sent the wife to the LHBS

and she came back with whole hops. I love her, she's awesome but I am used to using the pellets and thus I have no bag for using these :tank: so any suggestions for using them (outside of going back to the LHBS and returning them or buying a bag to put em in) I am an all grain brewer.

Throw out their hot dog water, you may want to ask them to save it for you if you find this at all appetizing

It's Saturday Brewday - Watchya Makin?

I was thinking of using the yeast cake formed from a Citra IPA I'm moving to secondary today, I figure if it doesn't bubble in a day or two I can always pitch the yeast I got for this batch anyway. Have you done that before? If so, is the success rate high?

It's Saturday Brewday - Watchya Makin?

and I'm kinda sick of the Citra IA I made the first two times, so I made IPA with Centennial, Tetnang and Cascade Hops, used PNW pale ale grain. It's cooling on the back porch before it goes into primary. I plan to use dry ale yeast from Safale when it's cool enough. I'm also going to try not...

    Mysteree Hops

Gave the plant to my brother for a housewarming gift and he managed to kill it. Well maybe not kill it but it has seen better days will have to wait til next year to see if it comes back but at least it is in the ground now (no pun intended).

    What are you drinking now?

Celebration, and I'll continue drinking it until I can't find more or my first batch comes out of fermentation!

    Buying new vs used kegs?

Been using a used 5 gallon Pepsi keg for years without having had to replace the rubber yet.

    Squirrel Eating my Hops Plant!

I just leave my stinky hound on a line... shocking them?! Could be your pests are a braver lot than mine, I have been cleaning live traps out for a few years now on this property.

    Squirrel Eating my Hops Plant!

While I approve of the trap and lead procedures outlined above, I may just throw in that if you let a stinky beagle hang out around your plants (works on veggies too) critters seems to stay away.

    Mysteree Hops

Brings many, many vendors to the area and she bought it on the way in (and had to carry it around the park) from one of them that claimed the 15$ was going to charity.
