Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Thank you for the reply! I had thought about doing a sparge of sorts, but then I thought maybe you were doing something different. I made another 5 gallon batch this last weekend (crappy weather outside? No problem!), and I found that having a pound of rice hulls mixed in made it drain so...

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Hey again russki, I brewed a 10-gallon batch last weekend. I found that 21 pounds of grain is pushing the basket's limit a little, at least when combined with the total boil volume plus grain absorption loss. To end up with 11 gallons in the fermentor, I had a total water volume around...

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

I already am having fun! :mug: I overshot my first mash by 6 degrees, but pretty quickly corrected it with some cold water. I'll make note that there's no need to adjust for the grain temperature. The response time is impressive on this thing! One quick note: the part number (but not...

I'm curious about your induction plans. Care to extrapolate?

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

So I've been busting my hind quarters working on this, and I managed to finish in just under 3 weeks (plus a week for shipping times). I'm beyond happy with how this turned out. I'm thinking of calling her "Dolly." Hopefully she lives longer than that sheep. I need to give a big thanks to...

    Caribou Slobber...

I'm fortunate to have had a real Moose Drool, and it was amazing! I'm sure the clones get it really close as it didn't strike me as a complicated beer despite the great flavor.

Thank you. I figured as much, but I don't trust my own limited knowledge enough to work with this much electricity without double checking. The biggest project I've tackled up till now would be my MAME cabinet.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

You must have caught me during an edit that I hadn't saved yet. I've been trying to nail down sources for parts for way too long now. Yikes, it's 4am. I didn't think you'd see this so soon. Sorry about that. Please see my prior post.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Well done, russki! I have been looking to build something like this for a long time. This is perfect for my purposes. I am basically going to clone this build. I really want to thank everyone for contributing to this thread (and to all the others like it). This has given me the confidence to get...

    Dirt cheap RIMS heater

Thanks for posting this, alphaomega! I think I'm going to build one of these as well. Cheap, simple, but effective. My kind of engineering.

    Midwest Supplies

Everyone who is getting upset about this should take a deep breath and calm down for multiple reasons: Data breaches happen, and can happen in any number of points in the chain of credit card processing I've worked multiple jobs where I have to deal with fraudulent credit card charges. The...

3 Temp Fermentation Controller 1 chamber

Thank you for that. I had actually seen that thread before. Unfortunately, if I were to change the coarse adjustment on the freezer, then it would be too high in temperature to also use for proper yeast bank and bulk hop storage, which need to be in as cold an environment as possible. WHY I...

3 Temp Fermentation Controller 1 chamber

Thank you, sir! Anything you could elaborate on would be very helpful. I am happy to report that the heat tape I also bought from reptilebasics.com is likely going to work out just fine. I was a little unhappy to discover that even at the lowest temperature setting, the chest freezer I've...

Driving cross country with fermenting beer in a carboy

Exactly this. Just make sure your sanitation is awesome.

3 Temp Fermentation Controller 1 chamber

Huaco, I really, really liked this idea and the execution of the idea. I'm trying to replicate this build sometime very soon (as in this week/weekend if possible). I know you just had a change in employment, so I'm sure this forum isn't your first priority right now. That said, could we...

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

I can't honestly see why you would need to. I'd suspect that it would throw off the balance of the motor and cause you more headaches than it'd be worth. Or without the extra resistance from the air, the motor might spin at higher RPMs than you'd want and burn out faster. But I'm just guessing...

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

A couple things I've learned about my stir plate build now that I've made a starter: The thickness of the wort is sufficiently different from straight water that the 1 in stir bar gets thrown at full bore, so I had to turn the speed back a little. I set it as high as it would go while being...

    Rant - TV Brainwashing

I'm very much a live and let live kind of guy, but that ends when someone tries to push their ideologies on me. I am probably the most picky entertainment consumer of my generation. Anything that feels like it's got some kind of agenda immediately gets the boot.

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

Thanks! Just an el-cheapo box from a local cigar shop. That is a good deal on the stir bar. Nice find! Hi 00p, I used Goop. No, seriously. It worked really well. Goop is really strong contact adhesive. You can get it at pretty much any big box store. Just apply some to both the washer and the...

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

This is how mine came out using these magnets (two of 'em) and a 1 inch stir bar. That's a two liter flask. It gets a pretty nice vortex going at full bore. Thank you to everyone posting instructions for this!
