Can I add fruit to my primary?

Yeah, I have read that. I wasnt about to do that. One thing I did learn before this experiment. Hopefully I didnt get rid of too many of the flavors when I steeped and tossed the water. Hoping to get a nice berry undertone.

Can I add fruit to my primary?

Thanks for the info all. I really wish I had known some of this stuff before I added my fruit. I think I could have saved alot of my flavor. I was also concerned about adding frozen berries to my beer because of what it might do the the temperature. I didnt want to shock the yeast or something.

Can I add fruit to my primary?

I just steeped them in water at between 150 and 160 degrees for 15 minutes. I pulled the bag out with my tongs and gently stuck in in my primary. Since my berries were frozen, and they were submerged in hot water for several minutes, I hope all of the juicy delishiousness wasnt sucked of them...

Can I add fruit to my primary?

Cool, Im just looking for something easy. I will be transferring to a bottling bucket when I bottle. Im hoping most of the crap will stay in the bag to minimize particles in my brew. I will skim out any that I can see and hopefully any small pieces I miss will fall into the bottom of the...

Can I add fruit to my primary?

Quick Question- I brewed a 5 gallon batch of American Wheat Beer, it has been fermenting in the primary for 2 weeks. I am going to take a gravity reading today to see how close I am to my target. If fermentation is complete, I was thinking of steeping 2 lbs frozen blue berries in a mesh...

Add fruit to primary or rack beer on top of fruit in secondary

I brewed an American Wheat Beer, it has been fermenting in the primary for 2 weeks. After reading through this thread, I was thinking of steeping 2 lbs frozen blue berries in a mesh bag, then putting the mesh bag into my primary for a week. Im not looking for blue berry beer, just a nice...

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

After the wheat I'm doing a APA. I want something hoppy and refreshing for the hot months. I already plan on making the jump to A/G sometime before the end of summer. I just want to get a few batches under my belt first. Also need to space out the buying of my equipment. I can't dump it all...

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

Sweet. I will def get some more buckets. I already have the next 5 batches planned out already. I have already read that thread along with many others. I feel like I have been doing a bunch of studying over the last few weeks. I intend to get a "pipeline" going, but I have to get some beer...

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

I wish. I'm having some Donato's Pizza and a Sam Adams Noble Pils since I dont have any homebrew ready for consumption. The wheat beer is for the wife so she may have been more concerned than I was. I'm going to post my grav reading this weekend so that Revvy doesnt think I'm stoneless lol...

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

I not terrified of taking them lol. I welcome all of the good advise I get here. I took a gravity reading out on my first batch (even tasted it), last weekend. That first batch has already hit the target, but many posters on here have said to leave it and let the yeast "clean up" their mess...

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

When I arrived home from work today, I went to my basement, got my hydrometer, sterilized it, and began making my way to my closet where the ale pail is located. I opened the closet doors and my airlock was bubbling. Since I know that my yeasts are okay, and I don't want to risk any sort of...

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

No, that was my intention. I can still do it. I have sanitizer in a spray bottle so I can easily sanitize my hydrometer and take a reading. One poster above stated it may not be necessary... if it indeed shows signs of fermenting, then close the lid and let it run its coarse.

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

Cool, I will pop the top and if it looks/smells of fermentations I will leave it alone until I bottle in 3 weeks. Thank you for the help and reinforcement.

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

Im using a 3 part airlock. Im going to do a reading when I get home, If it hasnt moved, then I will probably come back on this thread and ask what to do next. Hopefully my reading will show me signs that my brew is fermenting.

2nd Batch.. No airlock activity after 72 hours

My bad man, I brewed this batch on Saturday, and it's now Tuesday. I brewed my first batch on a Sunday. Its reaching 72 hours, but Im going to do a reading. I didnt know if putting my dry yeast in warm tap water, then pitching it into 62 degree wort would have hurt it somehow??
