I just started doing hard ciders after years of homebrewing beer. What do folks use to determine final gravity of ciders and wines? Is there a reflectometer that goes to -5 brix? I done some searching, but my google-fu muct be weak, because I cannot find a hobbyist priced option.
How did this turn out. I am want to do a rye graf experiment as well, but and not finding much of a guide for the amount.
My plan is to select Chocolate Rye as a stepping grain for a stout-ish graf. Thanks for any thoughts, inputs, or suggestions.
Really cool. Would you know if a much lower power laser would work for just etching? Something like this...

About how much to you have invested beyond the IC3500? I am not much of a hardware hacker, but a friend of mine is. I am thinking of asking him to take a look at this as a project. Also, some updated pictures would be cool.
It is still disappointing from a home brewers standpoint that they are still sticking with their proprietary RFID tagged package. It would be nice to be able to get my own ingredients and brew. I can do that with a Krieg.

I am very tight for space and can only dispense kegs year round, out of a shared mini fridge. I am looking at the 1.5 gallon Torpedo or the 1.75 cannonball kegs. Please leave and thoughts, experiences, or other suggestions you may have. Just for some background I do have 3 pin locks, but only...
I go to Minneaplis Oxygen Company @ 3842 Washington Avenue N Minneapolis, MN 55412. They have a store in Shakopee also. I recommend buying a used tank somewhere for the exchange. I have gotten about a dozen tanks exchanged there and only once did they give me a steel one in return
Looks like a great idea. Could you give a bit more detail how you fitted the McMaster Carr componets to the 2 Liter bottle and had it hold pressure. Thanks!
It has been awhile since I last brewed and a friend new at the hobby and I made a double batch of this.

I managed to double the ingredients and the mashing volumn, except when I brought the boil volume up after the partial and...
Could this be used eliminate the fabrication part of the project to make this a cut and weld project only?
