    Types of Bottles?

Keep a few 2ltr plastic bottles around. Save the caps from the soda bottles. In fact, that's all I use now. I can give beer away and not worry about replacing the bottles. I reuse the caps. (I bottle a few in glass to have when I want to sample the brew while it's aging) I's likes...

    I need bottles!!

I use the 2ltr. plastic soda bottles and reuse the caps over and over again. I also have my folks save just the plastic caps for me when I feel its time to use a fresh one. I use a few 12oz. glass bottles for samplers when I taste the brew while it's aging. :mug: neil

    Can't resist...

I reckon you all took me a little too serious.... ;) however, by the time I get to the last bottle, it will have aged poifectly....! When I started brewing in the early 90's, I used crack open a bottle after a few days and back then, I never racked over to a secondary....so that stuff was only...

    Can't resist...

Does it make me a bad person if I start drinking my brew only three days after bottling? It sits in the primary for seven days, the secondary for fourteen days and after three days in the bottle, I just can't help myself. Personally, I really do like the taste while it's still a little...

    b-brite, been not-so-brite

Hey all-- I got back into brewing again a few years ago and went back to using B-Brite for sanitizing my bottles and brew gear, or so I thought that's what I was doing! It wasn't until recently that I read the label (after reading a thread on this site) and realized that all it did...

Recipe Request : (Alcoholic) Ginger Ale

K--- I made a ginger beer many years ago from a recipe I found in an cookbook that featured UK cusine. I didn't make a large batch, I remember the grated ginger I added to water, a little lemon zest, sugar, cream of tartar and yeast. It wasn't high octane but it did have a nice taste and a...

    blow-off tube problem

The water in the jar was clean on Saturday when I put the blow-off tube on, and since I normally put the regular airlock on after a few days, I don't change the water in the jar. So the jar water had a few chunks and floaters in it... I keep the carboy in a plastic storage tub that you get from...

    blow-off tube problem

tnx for all the replies and thoughts....I was kinda leaning towards the idea that it was sucked back in as well. I think I may have just confirmed that too. I just checked the level in the carboy and it is higher then when I pitched the yeast! I was only water, but pretty skanky looking...

    blow-off tube problem

Hi... I should have mentioned there were no pets in the house....it may have evaporated and I just didn't pay that much attention to the level of the water when I checked it yesterday....we have the heat on most of the day and off during the night.... I guess the only thing to do is bottle it...

    blow-off tube problem

Hey fella's I've never had this happen before. I brewed a stout last Saturday. Had the blow off tube in place with about 4" of water in a qt jar. The car boy is in view all the time. This morning I noticed the water was gone from the jar! I don't think it evaporated that fast cuz I looked...
