    Silicone oil in airlock

I would be worried about getting suck back from a temperature or pressure change and then the oil affecting the beer head. Either the one way valve stop stopcock or using a sealed keg would be my choice

    "Luxury sports car..."

DSM cars are know for having problems especially when you start putting on bolt-ons. Get ready for some crank walk

    "Luxury sports car..."

If those are the two that you're interested in, test drive them back to back so you can tell the difference. The Genesis has gotten good reviews and the 3.8 is pretty quick. A family member has an M37 which is a really nice car but not offered in manual (only 7 speed auto) and still gets...

    "Luxury sports car..."

$30k is definitely on the cheaper end for luxury sports car. Used may be the best bet. I know you said no European but a BMW 335i would be prefect. It's basically "the" luxury/sporty car that everyone tried to beat. They can be had used for around your price. Not to mention with an exhaust and...

    Lunch pissed me off today....

The ironic part is that "deli" come from the German word Delicatessen (which comes from the french word délicatesse) German mustard called "Mittelscharfer Senf" is the best yellow mustard by far. Soft pretzels are eaten with butter not mustard in Germany (it is pretty good actually). Even in...

Storing razor blades in alcohol to make them last 4 or 5 months

Well rubbing alcohol is miscible with water (they can be mixed in any ratio) so it really won't prevent rust at all. Drug store rubbing alcohol is like 70% to 90% isopropanol and the rest is water. So it's still sitting in water Letting the blade dry would probably prevent rust better but the...

    Motorcycle Helmets

I ride with a HJC full face helmet. I am always wearing either sunglasses, clear safety glasses, or my prescription glasses. I just put them on after my helmet, the sun glasses are really comfortable. To me, having the Snell M2010 rating is worth the extra effort compared to a modular helmet.

Teenagers in house - how to secure kegs?

Wisconsin allows it, i believe even in restaurants if the parent order the alcohol. After living in Germany and seeing parents drink with their 14 year old kids and getting drunk with 15 or 16 year old kids (the legal drinking age is 16 for beer and 18 for hard alcohol). They seem to go through...

    Intercollegiate Homebrew Competitions?

I am in college and brew. It is difficult using an electric stove and living in a small apartment makes everything difficult. That being said, I did my first all grain and it turned out great. But an all student brew club would probably create a lot of problems (underage drinkers, people...

    NSFW Best card game

NSFW Very offensive, Vulgar Language Most fun I have had in a long time, it's a drinking game too. Similar to apples to apples but every card is the Hellen Keller card... http://cardsagainsthumanity.com/ Edit: While the link does have a place to buy the game, it's sold out and available...

    Best bottling method!!

Soda bottles work alright if your are really careful to clean and sterilize them. They hold more pressure than bottles, you can squeeze the bottle to see when it's carb'd up, and they hold a 6-pack worth. I would bottle in a few 2L bottles since I don't have a keg. I overcarb a bit so I can...

    How could I use this?

It's KOH, you can read about it here Potassium hydroxide I wouldn't mess around with it. It can cause serious chemical burns, toxic dust, splatter when mixed with water or acids, and corrode metals. Not trying to scare you, drain cleaner is mostly KOH mixed with water and other chemicals...

    Cheap Laundry Bags for BIAB

Have you looked at a brew shop? I actually just bought a 18"x32" nylon grain bag from my LHBS since I was an idiot and didnt look at which one I grabbed. It was only $8 though. I''l just use it in my Igloo mash tun, cheaper than making a braided SS hose filter for batch sparge. Edit-I would...
