    Apfelwein racking question

I made my batch in a 6gal. carboy and racked it after 4weeks in another 6gal. since that`s all I have. My question is: I have some space left and was wondering if I should top this off ? I`m guessing it`ll take between 1/2gal to a gal. I was planning on using the same juice I started out with...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I started my Apfelwein in a 6gal. carboy and after 4 weeks I racked it into another 6gal carboy ( it`s all I have ) should I worry about topping it off and if so can I use the same juice or do ya think it`ll be too much ? I wanted to age it in the carboy. Burch

    No Boil Kits

I read about them in Palmers - How To brew. Just curious, it does sound like a good idea but then again if it sounds to good to be true it probably is. Burch

Is this really worth it ?

I ordered a Yeauling ( I think I spelled that right ) draft a dinner and was in love with the taste. So I decided to try a six pack of two different types of the Yeauling. Man did it suck, both beers from the bottle was horrible. In fact I gave the rest away. I`m going to find out what that...

Is this really worth it ?

O.K. I didn`t mean to ruffle a bunch of feathers. I was just making a statement. I might have paid for a little more than I`d hoped but got a wealth of info from my post. I`ve decided to do some more research on all grain brewing and buying my supplies in bulk. My homebrew guy in my area is...

Is this really worth it ?

Maybe i`ll try all grain. Since i`ve only done one batch can I get an all grain kit and make a 5gal. batch to start. Are the all grain kits ( if they make `em ) any cheaper ?

    Gravity Reading Low

Sat. My batch went into the primary fermenter with an OG of 1.060 and was suppose to be 1.050. The FG is suppose to be 1.055. Thurs. I took a reading and got 1.030. Now I had a boil over for about 30 seconds when I was cooking my wort. Did I screw it up or should I leave it alone for a few...

    first batch disasters

What Pat`s describing is why I decided to put my lid on the pot. The Jen-air above my stove was dripping into the boil. I partially covered the top also, so be carefull Pat I only left mine for a second and had the boil over.

    first batch disasters

The lid was only on it for about a half a minute. I walked away and heard it boiling over then immediatly ran to it and got it back under control. I did loose some sediment though. It`s ferminting now and the temp is holding at 74 degrees. Is that too warm for an India pale ale ?

    first batch disasters

Everything went just great until I decided to put the lid on my boiling pot and yep you guessed it, boil over. My wort boiled for about 40 min. before that. Man what a mess. Thank goodness the wife went off with my sister. I managed to clean everything up before she got home. I got my pale...

    uh oh !!!!!!!1

So can I salvage what`s left. Maybe rebottle it with sugar let it sit a week or is it a lost cause. I`ll only loose three 12oz. bottles so i`m not out the whole batch.

    using a dishwasher

Is is o.k. to use the dishwasher for cleaning equipment. The water temp in one is really hot and has to be a good cleaner. The reason i`m asking is I was a little concerned about the blue speckled stock pot i`m using. If this is good to use what kind of soap should I buy.
