I would skip trying to make good beer and just focus on making moonshine. Besides drinking it, I could use it for fuel and sanitization. It also stores better and is a lot more portable than beer.

We used to drink Cruzcampo when I was stationed in Spain. They sold it in 6-packs of 40oz. bottles for the equivalent of $3. I grew up drinking Milwaukee's Best Ice and I could barely choke down a Cruzcampo.
