    Temps are pretty high

I'm definitely going to have to use the water bath trick. After the main fermentation was finished the temps leveled at 72 (which is still a touch high). I think the damage was already done and moving it to the upstairs bath is too much for me to handle. I will start my next beers in the water...

    Temps are pretty high

Thanks, I've been putting some cold packs between the two fermenters, but it hasn't touched the temp. I'm going to throw a couple cold wet towels around them and see if that helps.

    Temps are pretty high

Right now my fermenters are 11 degrees above the ambient air temperature. Beyond all the other BS that went wrong on this beer, I am now dealing with this. I'm using Nottingham Yeast and I know I'll probably have some off flavors (or pretty much guaranteed off flavors). Here's the question...

Wacky Sam Calagione Randall Jr. Commercial

Just figured I would throw my two cents in: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003LJX0MW/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 You can put your own label on it. If you are a prime member, it's free chipping too.

    Looking for Pliny the Elder

Hello, I am looking to buy/barter/trade for some Pliny the Elder. I have a friend that brews with me that's graduating college and really wants to try this beer but has never had access to it. I live in Dallas, Tx. Let me know if there is anything you would be willing to trade for some or...

Apfelwein in Primary for 13 mo. - Bottling tomorrow

Thanks for the advice. I did 4 wine bottles still and had 8 6-packs that should be carbonated in a few weeks. I'm planning on giving some of the six packs away to a friend. I tasted some of it and it was slightly funky. I'm hoping it's all good, I might have just had a little too much StarSan...

Apfelwein in Primary for 13 mo. - Bottling tomorrow

I'm planning on bottling my Apfelwein tomorrow after 13 months. I've got a few questions: Should I carbonate or bottle it still? (I'm debating between the two.) If I carbonate it, I think I'll re-pitch some yeast along with the 3/4 cup of dextrose. How much should I use? A half...

    Weldless Bulkhead

Mine did the same. I just added a couple washers and that snugged it up. As long as it isn't leaking though, everything is A-OK.

To go along with this: "help! I forgot to add carbonation the fermenter."

"Edwort is an idiot." The ultimate troll for those who love apfelwein. (I have 6 gallons going on a year right now, still haven't tasted it.)

    Groomsmen Gifts

Seriously, thank you all for responding! These are all great ideas. I'm one of the last in a group of friends to get married and if everyone didn't already have a flask I would have done that. I like the beer bottle pint glass idea, I might have to do a few of these for myself. I'm liking the...

    Groomsmen Gifts

I need some help. I need some beer related gifts for $8 or less. I'm giving each of my groomsmen a basket with a monogrammed pint glass, and a mixed six pack of craft beers from small breweries. I also throwing in a credit card beer opener, some Advil and a bottle of water. Issue is I want to...

    cleaning a therminator

Here's what I do (not sure if it's the best option but it's never failed for me.) After all the wort has been chilled and and the carboys have been tucked away, I take all my fittings and parts and let them soak in warm water with powdered brewery cleaner. I let my plate chiller soak with my...

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

I'm in grad school studying physics right now. "I usually assume spherical beer when I approach any brewing issues." (if you get this joke it's pretty stupid, if you don't it's kinda retarded. Sorry I couldn't resist with all the Engineers on the thread.)

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

This is a card that was only used twice in the last 4 months. Once was through paypal. Once through you. Only time anyone even got whiff of the numbers was when one of the items I ordered online was out of stick so they needed my card number for a refund. Next day (thursday) after the phone...

Ever have a credit card number stolen???

You'd be surprised. I had a friend in high school that stole credit card numbers from his work just because he could. (needless to say I am not friends with him anymore.) It is easy just to say here's a number let me use it. They don't know me, they don't know my situation or where I live. I...
