What came in the mail for you today?

You're influencing me in ways my wallet may hate soon enough haha. Now I want a mash paddle like that!

What came in the mail for you today?

You win. I just ordered the BOGO, and will probably keep the other one. I thought it over, and it means I have 1 more fermenter than I can really use, but I will find a way. Now my buckets can convert to grain storage units.

What came in the mail for you today?

Ingredients for my chocolate milk stout and a 5 gallon better bottle. But I am about to return that because NB has BOGO on their bubblers

What came in the mail for you today?

My refractometer and cereal killer grain mill! Wish it would have came earlier in the day so I could have crushed grain and brewed. But now I get to enjoy my new toys and brew in a few days.

What came in the mail for you today?

50# sack of pale ale malt from more beer! Hope I can make some good beers with it. $1 per lb is way better than the $2.20 they charge at my LHBS. Also, should be receiving the last couple of pieces I need to build my stir plate later today. Good week to be off from work :ban:

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

Bottle conditioning a porter that looks great. I'm my fermenter is a pale ale, close to an IPA. Which brings me to my question, I used vienna malt and just a tiny bit of MO I had left over. Tettanger and cascade hops. I've only brewed some LME batches and the last 4 have been BIAB mostly...

Syracuse, ny - round 8 group grain buy

Anyone planning on another group buy? I got in on a couple of buys back 2 years ago. Finally have the space to brew again, so I need to load up on some grain! Hopefully we can get something going sometime soon.

Trade 23 Liter (6 gallon) Carboy for 3 Gallon Carboys

I have a never used 23 liter, just over 6 gallon, glass carboy. Just too big for my current living and brewing space. Would be great if I could just trade straight up for two 3-gallon carboys (as long as its in the continental US, since shipping would probably be about the same for both...

SYRACUSE NY - ROUND 3 Group Grain Buy

yea, the cm 2row is fantastic. I've been very happy with the first couple brews I've done using it. I was also a bit skeptical because it was the the cheapest 2-row option, I believe, but now it'll be the one I order next time I need more. I'm really trying to resist buying anything else, but...

Syracuse, NY area - Group Grain Buy

I agree with definitely going with 2-row, let's you do about anything. Maris otter, as I'm funding out from the first group buy is great too! Like cidah said, good for English styles or where you want a slight slight bit more color and maybe a bit more of a malt characteristic. I'd go for 2-row...

Do you squeeze the bag -BIAB

I'll have to try that method, I usually put my bag in a bucket after letting it drip for a few minutes, I then use my hands and squeeze the bag against the bottom and side of the bucket. I guess I should get gloves lol. Squeezing a bag that's in the 150 degree range kind of hurts after more than...

    Any Issues With Northern Brewer?

Ordered a couple times from them and I've loved the service so far!

    Plexiglass false bottom

I found this link based on what you said, please double check to make sure it's the right product. http://www.plaskolite.com/pdf/optixmsds.pdf That's about as much as I can help, I'm sure somebody else can chime in to see if it's safe for use as a false bottom.

    Plexiglass false bottom

I'm guessing it means how it would react with the acidity of the wort

Is my friend brewing bottle bombs?

Uh oh. Let's see how this goes. I hope they listen to your safety advice at least!

    Playoffs NHL or NBA

I rather be watching the NFL draft this Thursday than either lame NHL and redundant NBA :)

Syracuse, NY area - Group Grain Buy

Hey cidah I might be able to make it out there tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. I know you said you'd probably be in most of the weekend, but just want to check with you first

Where is your go to place to get your equipment?

Northern brewer's prices are pretty close and sometimes lower than other sites, shipping is a good deal. I prefer them because they are closer to me, so I can get the stuff quick, especially yeast. Even with shipping, they're cheaper than my lhbs by far. I guess most of these places are pretty...

Where is your go to place to get your equipment?

I've mostly used Northern brewer, I think they're great! I just used brewmasterswarehouse for an order I received today. I placed the order on Friday morning, by the afternoon they emailed me back saying one of the items was out of stock and would take a few days, so I said ok, no problem. They...
