    Arrogant Bastard Ale

Is ABA a BarleyWine? Such a high ABV...but not quite as high as some other BW's. Are 'American Stong Ale' and 'Barleywine' one and the same or no?

    Brewed a BarleyWine Yesterday

I brewed a SN Big Foot Clone yesterday, with a SG of 1.094 (sheet said should have been 1.097)...I must have added just a touch more water. I know that it will take months, even a year or more, to reach it's potential, but am wondering if the primary and secondary fermentation schedule...

    Couple ?'s On a Stout

I have an extract stout (William's Stout) in my secondary; It was in primary for a week, just finished first week in secondary. When I racked it to secondary the gravity was a bit higher than sheet says it should be, yet the bubbling was few and far between. 1.025, sheet says should be 1.121...

Will This Tool Help Some of You?

I am a new brewer and trying to learn all that I can. I have been finding some good sites and went ahead and created a search engine, that is a work in process, related to beer and brewing. Maybe it will help some folks find information from sites which I see linked from here quite often. It...

    Dumb Question Perhaps...

Is there anyplace to purchase craft brews online or via the phone? I live in a very rural area of West Virginia...I am fortunate to have access to Sam Adams, Great Lakes, some Red Hook and hit or miss on Sierra Nevada. Would love to get a bottle or two of some of the beers I read about on...

    Commercially Available Smoked Porter?

I have been reading about smoked porters and would be interested in trying one. At this point, I do not have the knowledge or equipment to do a full-grain which it appears would be required to homebrew a smoked porter. Thanks!

Flavoring a Honey Ale? Or Lawnmower Lager?

My wife kinda likes SA Cherry Wheat, wanting to brew something for her... I have two extract kits, and some extract flavorings. Let me know what you think might work, or not... One kit is a Honey Ale, the other is a "Lawnmower" Lager. I am thinking of doing the Honey Ale with Blackberry...

So Far So Good, Bubbling After 3 Hours

Sorry, sure some of you are tired of reading my posts already. Poured my stout onto the yeast cake from my Pale Ale, three hours later and getting bubbles. I hope it continues and it works out. I sanitized the lid, airlock etc....but was unsure of what, if anything, I needed to do with the...

Pitching Onto Yeast Cake II - Time Frame?

I will be putting a stout on top of a yeast cake from a pale ale. Wondering how soon, or how much time I might have, between siphoning the pale ale into secondary and pouring the stout onto the yeast cake. Would I have a couple of hours, perhaps overnight, that the yeast would be ok...or...

When Pitching On Top of Yeast Cake...Stir?

Should I just pour my wort and then seal up the fermenter? Or should it be stirred up? I will be putting a Stout on top of a Pale Ale... Thanks all for the help!:mug:

    Couple Questions from a Noob...

I did a couple searches and could not find specific answers, so thought I would ask... Can someone explain the purpose, and method, of a secondary ferment? I am using a bucket fermenter with the 'tap' at the bottom to allow me to use a hose to move the fermented beer to a bottling bucket...
