    Rate this restaurant beer menu.

For me it would depend on what else is available within a reasonable driving distance. For panama city florida, I would be happy with that list since there's nowhere else to get a good beer. If it was philly or colorado, I would go somewhere else. Of course, if the SWBMO was in the mood for...

    Brewing and Boots

flip flops on occasion, but usually lace up and old pair of gortex northface shoes. I spill stuff on my feet quite a bit so they keep me dry. I think I might buy a pair of knee high rubber boots. My neighbors will think I'm up to something weird in the back yard.

    Got an off flavor

I had the same issue when I moved to FL. Lot's of chloramine in the water. I replaced the garden hose with a drinking water hose, replaced all of my plumbing/tubing which hadn't been changed in years, and use the campden tablets in sanitizer, rinse water, and brew water...basically any water...

    When are cones ready?

Some of my plants have nice big cones at the top and tiny ones at toward the bottom that are just starting to bud. How do you all go about harvesting. I'm assuming the ones at the top will start to turn brown before the new ones have finished. Should I pick the ripe ones and dry them, then...

    1st Year Container Hops!!! We've got cones...yeah!!

I've been soaking them until I see water coming out of the bottom pretty much everyday, sometimes every other day. I've also been giving them a diluted liquid fertilizer every 7 days or so

    1st Year Container Hops!!! We've got cones...yeah!!

Sounds good. You think I'll be ok leaving them for the next 2 years in those containers? I know it's not ideal, but we'll be on the move again by then. Try picture 3 again. I tried to get a close up of the start of 2 small cones.

    1st Year Container Hops!!! We've got cones...yeah!!

Planted these babies back in the first week of March. I really didn't know what to expect with this being the first time I've done this. From the left is Magnum, Fuggle, and Hallertauer. The Magnum came up first, but the Hallertauer grew the quickest. The Magnum vine broke after it got to...

Growth after 40 days in the dirt!

I would say they are getting their first sun at about 9:00 am and are in the direct sun until about 6 pm. the leaves have been a bit brittle and a tiny bit burned, so I've been watering them everyday and they've been doing pretty good. I'm giving them diluted liquid fertilizer every 7-10 days.

Growth after 40 days in the dirt!

Here are some pics of my hops after about 40 days. The Magnum are about 7-8 inches which is surprising...they were the first out of the ground! The fuggle are about 16-18 inches and the hallertauer are about 14 inches. So far so good! How do you all think they are doing? Are they about...

    First all-grain...problems, problems, problems.

Was your grain pre-milled or did you mill it? If it was pre milled you could probably ask your homebrew store what their mill gap was set at. I've been getting really good results(80%) with .50 to .55 on my barley crusher. I just tried going to .40 this past weekend and it was a bit too fine...

Shorter Fermentation Time with Blow-off Tube

I've used dry yeast on my last 3 batches and it seems to ferment quicker and more vigorous versus liquid yeast. A starter still kicks off faster but I think the dry yeast, especially the S-04 krausen is usually gone within 48-72hrs. Either way, don't trust the airlock...use your hydrometer.
