    Brown Porter Recipe Critiques

I never updated this. But I ended up doing: 70% MO 12% Brown 12% 45L 6% Chocolate Wyeast 1968 Fuggle @ 60 min EKG @ 10 min for 28 IBU It was delicious, and I'm looking forward to brewing up another batch for fall. Thanks for the the suggestions everyone.

    Blueberry Ale Recipe Opinions

I did a 2nd batch with a simple grain bill, but put frozen blueberries into the secondary. The wort started fermenting again due to the blueberry sugars, and I was left with no blueberry taste. The beer has a funky yeast aroma as well, possibly from wild yeast that the blueberries may have...

    Heady Topper vs. Pliny

As others have said, they are both great beers. I think your personal preferences will determine which you think is better. I personally like Pliny a little more because it is more well balanced than Topper. I do have to say that Topper has the most amazing hop aroma of any beer I've ever...

I'm talking about Cigar City the brewery. Supposedly it's at: 3924 West Spruce Street, Tampa, FL ??? Mid-way between Clearwater and Plant City

    Tampa Florida!!

Awesome. Does Frenchy's have a good beer selection? If not, are there any places on or near Clearwater beach that do?

    Tampa Florida!!

Thanks for the suggestions! He lives in Plant City. I'm thinking I'll go to Clearwater and head over to his place around 3pm. How would traffic be around that time?

    Tampa Florida!!

Cutting into this thread since you guys are from Tampa - I'm going to be heading there in a couple of weeks to see my old college buddy. I'm going to land at about 9am, and he won't get off of work until around 4p. I've got a car and want to head to a beach. Where should I go?

    Brown Porter Recipe Critiques

Thanks for the input. I'll be trying this in the next few weeks. I'll tweak it as necessary for the peanut butter/cocoa batch - I want that beer to drink like a Reese's cup. YUMMY!

    Brown Porter Recipe Critiques

Hahaha, Beachy, peanut butter is delicious!!! Toast some nice bread, slather some peanut butter and honey on it, and enjoy with a tall, cold glass of milk! Thanks for the input everybody. My reason for the victory malt was to give it a little bit of "breadyness" to go with the eventual...

    Brown Porter Recipe Critiques

Hey guys, working on my first Porter recipe. Let me know what you think: 70% Marris Otter 10% Munich 5% Caramel 40L 5% Chocolate Malt 5% Victory malt 5% Flaked Oats Fuggles at 60 min and 5 min, bittered to 30 IBU Denny's Favorite 50 Wyeast 1450 Expected OG at 1.056. It's just over the OG...

    Blueberry Ale Recipe Opinions

Thanks for the frozen berry suggestion. If you end up trying out my recipe, let me know how it goes. I ended up using Cascade and Citra hops and I split the batch into two parts - a no-blueberry flavor added and blueberry flavor added. I ended up liking the no-blueberry flavored beer better...

    Blueberry Ale Recipe Opinions

Just to update - I'm not happy with the way that the blueberry extract flavored the beer. I'm going to try using frozen berries or puree next time. I'll also probably get rid of any late hop additions and stick to one 60 min addition and maybe some dry hopping with Citra or another tropical...

When in between kegs, your beer line holds what?

Thanks for all the replies. I think il be ok with the co2 in the line. As long as that seal is tight nothing should be able to get into the line and start growing. I hope it's airtight... I can't say I've ever really read about or heard about mold in beer lines being a big issue. I was just...

When in between kegs, your beer line holds what?

So I'm sure this has been asked, but searching stuff like "what do you do with your beer lines if you are a couple of weeks away from connecting your next keg" was just too wordy to get me any results. Basically, I don't want mold or bacteria to form in my beer lines in the next few weeks...

    Blueberry Ale Recipe Opinions

My sis wants a blueberry flavored beer at her wedding. I think I'm going to go for a pale beer for now. I had thought about doing something dark and malty, but the wedding will be in the summer time, so light and crisp is the way to go. The grainbill is a modified from a Blue Moon clone I've...
