How long from bottling to cold and drinkable?

Hello everybody! I haven't been around in a while, so please forgive my very basic question. I have my first beer (Munton's bock kit +3lb DME and .25lb sugar) sitting in primary. It's been there for about 10 months. It's been a time consuming year, heheheh. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's...

    corn sugar during boil

What was the kit? Depending on what it is, you might not need to add more sugar. My first kit was just a can of prehopped malt syrup, and it said I could add more sugar or malt if I wanted to but it wasn't necessary. I added 3 pounds of DME just for fun :P

    Help with stuck fermentation

Glad we could help! I remember a short while back mentioning how a guy at the LHBS said Scotch ales can be tricky for brewing, and back in the day they would have to occasionally roll the fermenting barrels to rouse the yeast otherwise fermentation would stall. When I mentioned this, a senior...

    Help with stuck fermentation

No problem! Like I said before, my beer was stuck so I tried doing the twisting. I did it once a day for about a week and hit my final gravity.

Best way to fill a growler??

I have my first brew still sitting in primary (been there since probably February sometime, I forget when exactly I brewed it and dont feel like looking it up). I just haven't had time to buy caps and bottle it yet. Anyway, this black bock is sitting in the primary fermenter, which happens to...

    Help with stuck fermentation

If it's in a bucket you can try picking it up by the handle and gently but firmly twisting the bucket left and right (think washing machine motion). This will mix up the yeast cake at the bottom a bit and can possibly rouse your yeast to get back into action. It definitely helped with my brew...

Allow smoking in our new pub?

What in the world does being a social worker have to do with anything?

Allow smoking in our new pub?

I voted "on the fence". I really wouldn't like it if it were smoking but if the food/beer was good and there was a good working ventilation system then I wouldn't have much of a problem going there. Personally, I hate the stink of cigarettes. I don't mind if I'm outside and someone's...

To Prime or not to Prime

If you pinched the top lead growth, it will stall vertical growth for a bit while the plant recovers from it. It shouldn't randomly create new shoots, but any side branching below that pinch point will start growing out more.
