Stove-Top Test Batches OR How to Beat Old Man Winter

So here's what I do for the winter. Everybody knows brewing in 15 degree weather sucks, and my hose for my chiller is frozen solid. I use the time to play with ingredients and make some fun test batches. I don't like using a 6 gallon better bottle on 2.5 gallons of beer, so I just use the...

    New grain storage bin

I picked up this oil spill kit. It's a 25 gallon HDPE plastic tub with a threaded lid and water-tight gasket. The oil spill kit was just a bunch of individually packaged organic absorbent material and 100% cotton rags and stuff, so i'm not too worried about chemicals or anything. If you can...

Ultimate BIAB rig - Build Thread

A few months ago I posted this thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/biab-stand-electric-winch-pump-353869/ about building a BIAB rig. This week I finished the project. I’ve also built a 15.5 gallon kettle, mini-fridge ferm chamber, Monster Mill rig, and 75 ft. 3/8” wort chiller to go with...

    The E-Bay gear motor debacle

So, back in August I put up a post for some Dorner gear motors listed on E-Bay by First Choice Industrial Services. All I wanted is a motorized mill, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. First, they sent me the wrong item. Once I wired it up and plugged it in I realized it was...

HOW the hell did I get here!?....

I started looking into brewing beer because I thought I would save some money and always have beer available without going to the corner store. I did a lot of research and decided to skip the Mr. Beer kit and go for a "real" kit from Midwest. I figured if I'm gonna spend the money, I might as...

    LBHS in Cleveland?

What are some reccomended shops in Cleveland? I live in Parma, near Brooklyn. I googled it and found 2 or 3 stores that are around 20-30 minutes from Parma, but nothing looked like they were large stores. Once I move to all grain I'd like to pick up crushed grain/hops locally.
