Maryland Kettles, mash tun, chillers, stir plate -

Sorry for delay in responding to PM's for this. I have a local sale pending for a lot of my gear. I'm not sure what I'll have left, will update once clarified, and reiterate that I'm not interested in shipping.

Maryland Kettles, mash tun, chillers, stir plate -

Haven't brewed in a long while.... I have everything needed for all-grain brewing, fermenting and serving. I'm listing some specific stuff here, technically I have a lot more bits - everything for bottling, kegging, serving etc... Been a while since I bought or sold this type of thing, so I...

    What goes with nugget?

Thanks, I think I'll try it out on it's own and see what happens.

    What goes with nugget?

I've been working my way through several APA and IPA batches with my favorite hops: Amarillo, Citra, Cascade, Warrior and Magnum, and need to look at tackling some of the other hops I have hanging out amongst the beer supplies. I'm looking to make an APA or IPA with some of the Nugget hops I...

I've been using the standard scented stuff for over a year without any perceptable issues. Anything I use it on gets followed up with a good rinse and sanitizing bath (star san)

Making two different beers with one 10 gallon batch

I'm ready to step up from 5 to 10 gallon batches, but i'll be splitting the 10 gallons between 2 fermenters. For my first brew i want to make an IPA or pale ale. What are some of your ideas for using different yeast and/or dry hops to make the two a little different?

Kicking around the idea of a 15gal kettle group purchase...

Got mine yesterday w/2 horizontal fittings. Installed sightglass from brewhardware.com and ball valve. Looks great, can't wait to brew on it. Set it up next to my old 8.5 gallon kettle for comparison:

Grapefruity IPA - help me recip-ize my ingredients

I have a request to make a grapefruity IPA, and my knowledge of hops and general recipe building is limited so I'm not sure which hops can make that happen, but I think I might have the right ingredients to make this happen. Can you help build a 5-gallon all-grain recipe for an IPA out of the...

5 Ft Holiday Keezer Build Small Collar (pics)

I started with 2 kegs, went to 3, and then 4 (after moving the co2 out of the keezer and building a bigger collar) - see my build here

    Temp controller strategies

My comment about starting warm then dropping temp a bit I believe was based on the advice to start warm to ensure that fermentation takes off quickly. At this point I've just started and held temp at 68 degrees. The yeast is WLP013 which has a fermentation temp range of 66 - 71 degress, so 68...

    Temp controller strategies

I just started fermenting a batch o' brew (AHS Milk Chocolate Stout) in my old keezer with dual-stage temp controller. This is my first time fermenting with temp control - in the past the only temp control I've had is via swamp cooler and in moving the fermenter around to different spots in my...

    how many regulators?

I have a 4 tap keezer with 4 secondary regs because I like to have a hefe, stout, IPA/APA, and a mild on tap at the same time and I like to carb to style. There is no such thing as carbing pressure vs. serving pressure. Eventually serving pressure will become your carbing pressure as it...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Adhesive, I think it was called goop I used a speed bore drill bit in my drill to cut the initial round openings, then I taped an outlet cover on top as a template to cut out the detailed shape of the outlets. I did that final cut with a dremel bit, but could have done it just as well with an...

anyone know of a chest freezer that will TIGHTLY hold three 5 gal kegs?

I started with 2 5-gallon ball-lock kegs in my 5.0 cf freezer with 5 lb co2 inside with a short-ish 3 or so inch collar. Added a third keg in the form of a 3-gallon keg, still with the co2 inside then decided I needed more beer on tap.... So I built an 8-ish inch collar for it and move the co2...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Put mine together last night. I used two outlets - one will be hot, one will be cold, and each will have their own fan I think. I used a red light, front and back, that switches on with the heat, and a green light front and back that switches on with the cold (couldn't find any blue lights at...

    DIY Stir Plate Potentiometer Specs

I just dug through through my old electronics bits stash to see if I had the right stuff to put together a stir plate. I found a 1-megaohm .5w 500VDC linear-taper potentiometer - no idea why I have it. I don't fully understand the ohm rating of the pot - is this too big to use?

    Crushing Grains

What is the "huge" difference that you get out of a fancy mill besides the cost? The end result is the same in that the grain gets crushed. I get consistent results of around 75% efficiency. I also made a larger hopper with about $15 worth of HVAC ducting in which I can fit just shy of 13 pounds...

    Crushing Grains

I'm sure the roller mills are really nice but I also have to recommend a corona mill. I found mine on amazon for $20, mounted it in a home depot bucket, and I crush grain for 5 gallon batches with the hand crank. It takes up to 15 minutes to crush but it's not like it's heavy labor. I have a...
