    Georgia BCS 460 and Digi16

I am selling my BCS 460 and Digi16 for the price of a 460 ($179). The device is near brand new and works perfectly, I need to upgrade to a 462 due to EmbeddedCC's decision to no longer support the digi boards. As long as you have no need for the 4.0 software (3.x works fine, I just have plans...

Single Tier, 3 Pump, BCS-462, Automated Rig

Very helpful! That helps with two other questions I had about the glowfly's: are they directly in the flame's path and if so angle of attack. I know these burners can put out serious BTU's and had doubts if the ceramic could take the heat. Judging from the picture they are not in the flame's...

Single Tier, 3 Pump, BCS-462, Automated Rig

Jon, would it be possible to get a close up picture of the ignitor setup you are using? I am having issues visualizing how to make a mount for the the gloflys. Which burner jets did you choose to be the 'primary' ignitors (I think I am using the same type jet burners you are but with 23 tips, I...

Single Tier, 3 Pump, BCS-462, Automated Rig

How did you secure the BCS to the enclosure frame? I thought about using a strap of thin gauge tin that I could bend to make a strap that could be screwed into the enclosure panel but wanted to see if there is a better approach.

Jon, any idea how much amperage the glow plugs pull? I looked on Honeywell's site and couldn't find that information.

Anyone have a 101-level tutorial on DIN rails?

I think we are on the same line of thinking just slightly different approaches. So given a SPDT (I think) switch like this http://www.ebrewsupply.com/shop/indicators-switches/2-3-way-switches/3-way-1-no-contact-switch.html would you make a jumper to connect the hot terminals on the switch? Or...

Anyone have a 101-level tutorial on DIN rails?

Yes. Mainly I am trying to wrap my head around how to hook up a three way switch and an SSR to a device (e.g. a march pump) and a LED light. The switch would allow for automatic or manual control. I am leaning towards DIN for the cleanliness and ease of extensibility. BTW, I am using a BCS to...

Anyone have a 101-level tutorial on DIN rails?

I am not an electrician but know enough to figure it out, but DIN rails are confusing me. Anyone have a simple guide on how to set them up and what the various modules do? I was planning on using terminal blocks but in hindsight the DIN rails look cleaner and easier to add new peripherals as...

    Looking for enclosure mounting ideas

I am building a single tier rig similar to JonW's BCS controlled system, except I am building an enclosure to house all the electrical components. I am thinking of building some kind of mounting arm to the side of my rig for the enclosure to be mounted to. Would anyone be willing to post pics of...

    Tips for a propane manifold

I will be running three 23-tip jet propane burners producing around 190k btu's. I was planning on having the burners ~5 inches from the bottom of the kettles. The total length of the manifold would be around six feet and I have a regulator reducing the propane from tank pressure to low pressure...

    Tips for a propane manifold

I am building a single tier system similar to JonW's and have a question about my gas lines. I am thinking about using one inch black pipe for the main manifold and then half inch for the lines to the burners. Is one inch too large? Also, do I need to worry about purging the line after a brew...

    Electric Burner Igniter

Any chance of getting a pic or explanation of how you used the igniter?

Single Tier, 3 Pump, BCS-462, Automated Rig

Any chance we could get a pic of the IC you built for the ignitors? I think I am going to go this route rather than the Honeywell approach for now (if I find that the BCS occasionally misses I will switch at least my MLT to a Honeywell since it will fire frequently).

    Another Brutus System is Born

Any way you could go into a bit more detail about your ignition system?

Best idea for electric ignition on propane burners

I am building a BCS controlled single tier system similar to JonW's and am now starting to sweat out the details. One of the bigger details I am trying to figure out now is the burners. I currently have two 23-tip jet propane burners. I am not really happy with these burners as they came with...

Single Tier, 3 Pump, BCS-462, Automated Rig

Thanks Jon, that helps some. I am still a bit confused on what makes someone choose between an SSR and a relay board. Is it just a matter of preference or is it for systems that are 24V vs. 120VAC. My stand is going to be propane and 120VAC (already bought the ball valves, solenoids, motors...

    Ignition Control Help

Looking for ideas on how to configure and install automated ignition control. More concerned with how to wire the igniters than I am with makes, although welcoming ideas for where to buy. I am connecting to a ECC BCS so (pretty sure) there is good support for firing igniters, just need to know...
