    Fermenting Never Started...

So that is a picture of my brown ale that I tool while taking a hydrometer reading on Saturday. Honestly I have only been at this since Jan but I have not had a beer look like that before. Fermentation was happening as my reading indicated that it had gone from 1.042 to 1.010 but I am a bit...

    Fermenting Never Started...

Awesome response guys. I will wait till the weekend because if it is fermenting and I have a slight leak, then I do not want to disturb it. If it is not going then I will re pitch this Saturday. Again I thank you all for the quick and helpful response!!!

    Fermenting Never Started...

So here is my problem that I seek the wisdom of the forum... I brewed a batch of Brown Ale on Saturday night using an extract kit form my local. I was using WL yeast and brewed exactly like I always do. Since then I have seen no activity in the air lock. I have not taken a hydrometer...

Husband wants Mr. Beer for Father's Day, BUT...

I will throw my opinion in here. I wanted a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas last year and the wife went all out and got a full starter kit. Best gift I ever got. I would go with a starter kit for extract brew. He will love it and you will be a hero!!!!!

Am I missing something here? Isn't "Priming Sugar" just simple table sugar? Using table sugar is the same thing, no?

    Home Brewer TV #38

Say it isn't so Gary? Pay TV??? Does this mean there will be no HBTV with out pay? Will all the ads and sponsors be going away? Not sure I am willing to pay for a podcast that has commercials in it. Seems like a double whammy. Love the show and sad to see it coming to an end for me...Good...

    Additives

Just made a Blueberry Wheat Ale and it turned out pretty good. I brewed the wheat beer from extract and allowed it to ferment for 3 weeks. Then I transferred it to a secondary on to 2 large bags (40ozs each) of Frozen Blueberries. I steeped the blueberries in just a bit of water to sanitize...

    What I'm realizing about myself

Well I have been brewing since January and I am am becoming a beer snob! I mean before this year the thought of drinking a stout or an IPA was just crazy, but now the thought of living the high life just does nothing for me. I get to enjoy what I drink and get the buzz that the Mass Prod...

Where Do Pros Get Their Labels Made?

As hard as it was for me to believe the Milk trick works like a champion. Easy to apply the label, and even easier to take it off. No mess, no glue, and looks great. Try it and you will see.

Can Someone tell me what happened?

Thanks to all my fellow brewers out there. You have made me worry less, in fact so much so that I think I will go and drink one of those bad boys!!!

Can Someone tell me what happened?

That is what I did. The first picture is the beer I drank, the second picture was what was left in the bottle. I guess I was just not prepared for that much being at the bottom. Like I said the first batch come out so good with minimal amounts that when I cracked this one, it just seemed...

Can Someone tell me what happened?

It was in Primary for 3 weeks. I am fully aware of the "Sediment" but his seemed like an extreme case. I mean that is a lot of gunk at the bottom of the bottle. The first batch I brewed had sediment but it was no where near as extreme as this. Are you suggesting that this is a normal amount...
