Idea for beer: low IBU, huge hop aroma/flavor?

1 double ipa i truly love is the hop rising from squatters, its literally exploding with hop flavor and aroma, while remaining less bitter than most normal pale ales I've had, its also dangerously drinkable at 9 % abv

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

Expected the racking filter to clean when i ran sanitizer through. Didnt boil my first batch. Didnt pay enough attention int he primary until AFTER my beer had already fermented through its first 2 weeks at nearly 90 degrees thanks to my newly broken fridge. Stashed bottles away from myself to...

    Scottish Heavy Walker's Gruagach 80/-

I just racked this to the secondary at 3 weeks, and was extremely astounded and enraged at the site of white mold on top, i racked it and left the mold behind anyway, it still smells amazing. This is my first infected batch, in the past I've only had a few bottles here and there. Its extremely...

    Quilters Irish Death Clone?

haha i used to date a girl out in ellensberg, and every time i was out there i would pick some up, i just happened to move right as they started shipping around the rest of washington. Seeing as the Quilter's you'll commonly be buying is only 7.8 ABV, i think that this recipe you found would be...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

mabye they aged past their prime? I've found my bottles made with cheap juice, crystal 120, and nottingham or S-04 or 05 yeast to age quite gracefully, and peak around 4 months, but anytime after theyre carbonated theyve been perfect. I wouldnt lose hope, i burned through my first batch and had...

    The "4-40" Amber ale or....?

I find one of the funnest things to do when making recipes, is to occasionally forgo style guidelines, i believe there are many amazing beers that have come from this practice. In most commercial breweries, i beleive they usually use about 10%- 18% rye. wiht ten percent being jsut for a dry...

    Alaskan Amber Clone

I was recently talking to one of their brewers about this beer, and they really stressed the fact that they make it in Alt beer style, And ferment in in the cooler temperature ranges. Everything else seems about right though.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

i know it cant support he bitterness, but i have been thinking it oculd be good with a really nice hop nose that could complement the apple, i might try it on the next batch

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

That can be fun, i like to do that with batches, and then do little experiments, dry hopping or different yeast strains, things like that. Just gotta remember which is which when you bottle it all

    Style to age til Nov?

That sounds amazing! especially with the strong percentage of munich and dark crystal malt, i was talking to my friend who runs the Lhbs an he said the scottish 80 would be perfect, so i picked up some things for that, but i might brew this along with it. or when i get back. I dont think I'd...

    Style to age til Nov?

I'm leavin town in a bit or so to do some work up north, an I've been digging through recipes, to try to find a style, or a recipe, that can benefit from the time ill be gone, which is about 2 1/2 to 3 months. Late November in New Orleans is still pretty hot, so i wasn't tryin to aim or...

Dark Mild Reaper's Mild, 1st place 2011 HBT Competition

Does anyone think it would be effective to add water to bring the gravity down? My brewmate an i made a pilsner and our effeciency went buckwild, if we'd left it, it would've been about 10 percent, so we took a gallon of the ten an then added water to bring it down to a more reasonable 5. It...

    Airlocks

I liked the S ones for awhile on account of them looking so scientific an wahtnot, UNtil i realized that they break easier, are hell to clean, and that youcan attatch a blowoff onto the 3 peice airlocks,

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

I KNEW IT! My dad used to drink redhook, and every time i treid some then it was great, totally delicious. A few weeks ago a roomate got an assortment pack of em, an it just wasnt the same at all, not totally awful, but definetly definetly lacking something it used to have. That really sucks...

    Graff: substitute ingredients?

Its probably just the tartness of the cheap juice, usually with the graff we'd use darker crystal malts with the cheaper juice to sort of balance that, along with the hops. 2 oz of hops it should overtake it very well though, id say at 3 weeks, even normal graff can be a bit tart at 1 week, as...
