Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

@Thorrak I got a similar error attempting to install in a fresh ubuntu server VM running 22.04.3 (fully updated). I tracked it down to the install script being unable to download the compose directory using svn export for some reason. When I tried that command by itself, I got the following...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

After my last post (a bit more than 48 hours ago), I restarted the docker containers and I have not had an issue since. The fermentrack containers in the debian VM are still connected to the ESPs, and I haven't seen any runaway python processes. I'll continue to update, and @Thorrak please let...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hm. Yeah, installed from testing and I'm still getting the behavior of python -um fermentrack_caller using 100% of a CPU. Edit: pasting the stderr from each of the devices to see if that helps: Aug 16 2023 14:22:42 Connection type WiFi selected. Trying TCP serial (WiFi) Aug 16 2023 14:22:43...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Will do. I've been experiencing some instability with my Debian VMs, so I need to run that down as well so we're not chasing too many variables.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

And @Thorrak, while I'm taking your time chasing down bugs, I'm noticing this one: python -um fermentrack_caller is eating a full cpu right now on my VM.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Well, spoke too soon. It died about 12 hours after I made that post. Here's stderr.log from my two esp devices: Device 1: Aug 14 2023 02:25:10 Controller debug message: INFO MESSAGE 18: Negative peak detected: 41.3, estimated: 41.3. Previous cool estimator: 0.000, New cool estimator...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Currently at 48 hours+ with the testing install and no problems with disconnection from the ESP32. This is the longest it's worked for me since I moved to the docker install, so that's something positive!

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I was just about to post that my install had been running for 24 hours without breaking when I checked and saw the very unwelcome "Cannot receive LCD text from Controller/Script". Restarted the dockers and everything is back up for now. Since I'm not currently fermenting anything and my...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Not currently fermenting anything, so I just upgraded. It had only been half a day since I'd restarted all of the docker containers, so everything was still working at the time. I'll update here if it breaks again or if it goes several days without issue. Thanks Thorrak!!

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I'm having a similar issue running docker on a Debian VM. After a day or two the connection to the ESP32 dies and I get the "Cannot receive LCD text from Controller/Script" error. Here's my fermentrack-processmgr.log, for whatever it's worth. I did just update to the newest version, so maybe...

North American Oktoberfest vs German Oktoberfest

I made this exact recipe (60/10/30, OG 1.056). Finished at 1.009 for 6.3% abv, and seems pretty crushable despite the relatively high abv. It’s the first lager I‘ve made that has finished below 1.010, which I attribute to the distiller’s malt. I’ve only tried the extra that I bottled from the...

    Proportional and 3-way valves

Since I have 7 3-way valves in my system, I purchased these from aliexpress to save (quite a) few bucks. If I only had one or two, I'd probably have gone with the BruControl valves.

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Hopefully an easy question for the folks in this thread: I have BC setup with a Mega connected via USB. I set it up back in the 1.0 days with firmware v43. I'd like to update the firmware to v45, and I just want to make sure that there aren't any gotchas of which I should be aware (it's not...

How long is your typical primary fermentation for ales?

With a big pitch of my house yeast (WLP090), an ale under 1.060 is usually at terminal gravity in 3 days or a bit less. After that, I raise the temp for at least 24 hours thereafter to ensure that there’s no diacetyl. When I spund to carbonate, my ales go from boil kettle to chilled, carbed, and...

4.4cu ft mini fridge for FV?

I don't think so. Max inside height is around 27.5" from floor to ceiling. 26" from floor to the bottom of the thermostat enclosure on the right front.

4.4cu ft mini fridge for FV?

Be careful drilling through the sides. The evaporator coils run close to the skin on the sides (turn on the cooling and feel the sides--they'll get warmer). I actually bought a bulkhead to run gas through the sides of my fridge, and I'm still trying to figure out where the safest spot to drill is...

    Stainless fermenter... yes or no?

Based on the dimensions of your fridge, you might be able to put the 7.6 gallon Kegmenter on a low shelf so that the hump isn't in the way. It fits on the lowest shelf of my 4.4 cu ft beverage cooler, which has similar dimensions to what you described. I agree it's not hugely compelling at $200...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Reading this, I realize that I didn’t say “THANKS!” to @Thorrak—not only for personally troubleshooting my issue, but for making this excellent tool in the first place. Thanks again, good sir!

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hot diggity. Took a while to rebuild everything (particularly numpy, I think that took 20+ minutes), but nuking/rebuilding the venv and then re-running the fix environment script fixed stuff. I'm back, baby!
