    bulk DME help

Ok I was brewing all grain but I just don't have the time to spend on an all grain brew day. This means I am going back to extract and I am going to go bulk to cut cost. What is the most versatile DME I can get? I like a wide variety of beers from imperial stouts to saisons. Thanks for the help.

Maybe going to 3 gallon batches

Well I am the only one drinking my homebrew and I think 5 gallons is to much for me to drink by myself and still drink beers like IPAs and wheats young when they are at their best. My wife doesn't drink and all my friends are diehard BMC drinkers. So I guess I am on here asking if going to 3...

    Batch sparging

Simple question when batch sparging do I need to let the grain sit after adding sparge water? Or can I just drain first runnings, dump in sparge stir it then drain again? I was letting it sit for like 10 minutes but I am trying to shave time off my brew day.

Yes a hot side aeration question

Ok so I know most people think this is a myth but I have to ask because I am going to brew my first non Brew In A Bag AG beer next weekend. I don't have a pot to catch my first runnings and heat up my sparge water so I was thinking I will collect most of my runnings in a fermenting bucket...

    Flip top bottle questions

Currently I bottle with 12oz bottles regular bottles. It is starting to get really annoying but I do not have the room or permission from SWMBO to get/build a kegerator. I was thinking of making the switch to 1 liter flip top bottles the only problem is sometimes I just want a pint. Will...

    reusing bottle question

It is to the point that I will not buy commercial beers if I can use them to bottle my homebrew. I am a fan of Sierra Nevada but their bottle are oddly shaped so I haven't bought any in a long time. Does anyone know if a wing capper works on them?

    Passive oxide layer

Ok I am really just looking for reassurance that this aluminum pot is ok to use for my first all grain batch hopefully next weekend. I boiled 6.5-7 gallons of water in it for about 30 minutes.

    Kegerators

Now that the Sanyo is hard to find, at least where I am. What is the best option for min fridge conversion? Should I just buy a pre built? Keg connection has a pre built edgestar with 2 cornys, 5# tank, and perlick forward seal faucets for 723.95 + 50 bucks I think for shipping. I have no...

    airlock problem

This is the first time I have used a secondary and I had a question. I put a airlock on and filled it to the fill line with sanitizer. I checked it a couple days later and the level was low on the air lock so I thought it had cracked and was leaking. Put a new air lock on fill it to the line...

    New kegging question

If I get this keg system http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=464 Can each keg be set to its own pressure? So I could force carb one and have serving pressure on the other?

    first AG reciepe

Ok so I am going to be brewing my first AG batch here in the next month after I burn through some of my extract beers. I have a cooler ready to be converted and will buy the valves and wort chiller from NB. My real question is what to brew. I want something with a real quick turn around so I...

    Brew in a Bag bag

I am thinking about making the jump to all grain by trying BIAB. I have a 5 gallon SS kettle and a 7.5 gallon aluminum kettle so I will probably do a sparge method. My question is would this bag work ok? http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewing/brewmaster-filter-bag.html It says it is coarse but...

    Bottle breaking

Ok so I bottled my first batch on 1/31. I opened on that was only half full (bottom of bottling bucket) just to see what was going on. The top inch of the bottle broke right off. Is it possible to cap to hard? I am using a wing capper. I have opened a lot of commercial brews in my time and...
