Heading to Denver, what should I drink, where should I eat?

The Wynkoop is definitely a worthwhile destination. Try the Shepards Pie and some of their cask-conditioned IPA :tank:

    specific gravity question

Dunno. I ran your recipe through Beertools and get just slightly higher than the 1.068.

    specific gravity question

OK. Are you sure you are reading your hydrometer correctly? The photo below is of a standard hydrometer. A specific gravity of 1.101 would mean that the wort level is approximately at the red line. EDIT: Actually, the line is at 1.11 but its close enough.

    specific gravity question

How much volume do you have now? How much volume was the recipe designed for?

    Chemical Additives in Commercial Beers

Most of those are solvents that would presumably be used to aid in hops extraction. Solvents are cheaper than hopps so the breweries will want to get the absolute best extraction. Several of those are known carcinogens and would be heavily regulated in drinking water at the allowed levels...

    Oxyclean + Aluminum = Reaction!

Whew, good. And a point of clarification, we aren't talking about cooking collard greens but we aren't talking about strong acids either. Wort pHs in the 5's are pretty weak acids and aluminum tends to begin to solubalize at pHs around 4.5 and increase to a point where solubility...

    Oxyclean + Aluminum = Reaction!

Wow, not sure if this was directed at me or not. However, this response is exactly the reason that I made the first post. When people look for an answer to a serious question and they are provided with misinformation they may make thier decisions based on the misinformation. As I've said, my...

    Oxyclean + Aluminum = Reaction!

That is exactly correct. Aluminum is considered by USEPA as a hazardous material. However, it is only hazardous at concentrations at thousands to 10s of thousands of times greater than you would expect to get from drinking a beer brewed in aluminum. ALuminum is one of the most abundant...

    Oxyclean + Aluminum = Reaction!

I'm not disputing that there may be a link. The problem here is scale. The dose of aluminum that you could potentially recieve from drinking beer brewed in aluminum is orders of magnitude lower than you get from background exposure to everyday items (including drinking water). Everyone is...

    Oxyclean + Aluminum = Reaction!

First post here but I've seen this enough that I think I need to weigh in. The link between aluminum and altzheimers is tenuous at best. However, the dose that could theoretically be possible from brewing in an aluminum kettle is orders of magnitude lower than anything that would cause a...
