American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Long time extract brewer, first time AG. Made this exact recipe and dry hopped in keg with 1oz Cascade and 1oz Zythos. This is far superior to any extract beer I've ever made. I missed my mash temps (too low), beer came out cloudy (unconverted starch is my guess), but none the less is amazing...

PID settings on arduino based hlt

Looks like the auto tune is trying to guestimate using the Ziegler-Nichols method (increase P till the system oscillates, then fix P,I,D based on some simple approximations). It might be easier just to do it yourselves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PID_controller#Ziegler.E2.80.93Nichols_method...

Filling my C02 tank question--in montreal

La cachette du bootlegger fills them. They dont have a pump for the CO2 so you have to leave your tank there for about half a day (they freeze the bottles, connect them to their main CO2 tank, and pull them out of the freezer. As the bottle heats up it 'sucks' CO2 from the main tank.) All in...

    6 Weeks Primary

Kegged it, empty in 10 days. 6 weeks in primary produced a great beer!

    From primary to keg...

Kicking up the dust here, but in Canada we brew 5 Imp Gallon batches, which is 23 liters. That's why the excess. But, on the flip side, we get more beer :).

    Is kegerator worth the money?

Same here. I can honestly say that I appreciate the beer so much better now that I keg. Bottling used to be a chore and I hated having yeast deposits in each bottle. Now my first serve from the keg is cloudy and the rest is crystal clear. Prost!

    Alcohol free attempt fail...

Althought it's minimal, but the act of naturally carbing your bottles with yeast and sugar will produce alcohol as the bottles carb up.

Vermont Beercation Weekend (give me tips!)

Also in Stowe, there's the State Liquor Store. They had a good selection of Dogfish Head beers if you're into that. Bitches' Brew & Hellhound (both seem to be getting more & more hard to find).

    My FULL-ON electric build thread

This is big. I'm thinking you can recuperate cost by giving tours of your basement.

Vermont Beercation Weekend (give me tips!)

I was in Stowe on vacation between Christmas and new years and spent a day touring the microbrews. Here are some details: Alchemist (Waterbury, VT) The Alchemist Pub & Brewery is closed as of October 2011 from a bad flood that totaled the place. Luckily though, they opened a cannery a couple...

    XXXXX's Whirlpool WAR349BSL Kegerator Conversion (37 picture step-by-step slideshow)

Bump...got my hands on a lightly used WAR488 (4.4 cuft model, almost new) for 100$ CDN. I followed the 5.5" spacing from the rear of the fridge (measured with the plastic top piece off) and it turned out great. Just be careful when playing inside the fridge, i nicked on of the freon lines on the...

    Danby DAR125SLDD Kegerator Build

Good build! Looking at doing a conversion on this same model. Any reason why you didn't use the factory temperature controller?

    Sanke kegging...

This was brought up in another thread, you can get this part from McMaster which also works and is quite cheaper: McMaster part number 91580A246

"Guilty" confessions of a beer enthusiast

Sometimes I crave a craft beer, sometimes I crave a thirst quencher. I go with the flow .

    My two-tap kegerator build

I love how each pic has different tap handles. Good job, nice build

    6 Weeks Primary

My oatmeal stout has been sitting for six weeks in primary. Only thing I noticed, which I guess is quite normal, is I overshot my SG by a couple points (1.011 rather then 1.018). I thought she was a goner because she formed barely no krausen (maybe 1/2" for 24hrs). I just took a sip of room...

Mold on/in beer can't hurt you: true?

If your bottles aren't clean to start with, you'll still drink whatever mold you had sitting in the bottom of the bottle from when they were stored empty. So yes, although it won't 'grow' from your beer, there are other sources of mold.
